How much is NSFAS private accommodation?
Students who qualify for the National Student Financial Aid Scheme in South Africa can receive state sponsored financial support to help them meet education-related expenses such as paying tuition, accommodation and other costs of living.
The sum of money allocated to individual housing is subject to change and is influenced by the region, housing category, and the prevailing average living costs in that particular area.
In most cases, the NSFAS will pay for the student’s housing up to a predetermined limit, after which point the student is responsible for covering the remaining costs.
Students who reside in private accommodations that have been approved by the university are eligible for an annual accommodation allowance of up to R45,000
