How Long Does UNISA Take to Respond to Applications?

The University of South Africa (Unisa) is calling on all prospective students

who applied for admission for the 2025 academic year to respond to their acceptance letters of enrolment within 10 days. Not doing so may mean they will have to forfeit their application.

Prospective students are reminded to respond to acceptance offers for 2027 enrolment within 10 days. Failure to accept the offer within 10 days may result in the offer expiring and you will have to reapply in the next academic year.

All applications must be submitted online as no self-help stations will be available for applications at regional offices.

Applicants will need the following:

  • A valid email address
  • A valid cellphone number
  • South African applicants will need an ID number.  Foreign applicants will need their passport number.
  • Copy of your school qualifications (eg Senior Certificate)
  • Application fee of R125 which should be paid once you receive your student number (where applicable).

How Can You Check Your UNISA Application Status?

How do you check your application status with Unisa? Here are 5 easy steps to follow to check your UNISA application status:

  1. Check your contact details were correctly submitted to UNISA (or they cant contact you)
  2. Go to your UNISA Admin page to check and update your contact details
  3. Next use the “Track My Application” form
  4. Use the username (student number) and password you received when you applied
  5. E-mail to [email protected] if you have any problems accessing the site

What Does Each UNISA Application Status Mean?

  • Pending: Application received but not yet processed
  • In progress: Documents are being reviewed
  • Accepted: You have been provisionally admitted
  • Rejected: Application was unsuccessful
  • Awaiting results: Final academic results are required
