What Is ZIMSEC Registration?
ZIMSEC registration is the official process where candidates submit their details and examination entries to be approved for national exams. Without registration, students are not allowed to sit for exams.
Registration is usually done through:

Schools (for internal candidates)

Approved exam centers (for private candidates)
Types of ZIMSEC Candidates
1. Internal Candidates
Students currently enrolled in registered schools. The school handles most of the registration process.
2. Private Candidates
Students who are not enrolled in school but wish to sit for exams independently at designated centers.

Zimsec Examination Registration Requirements
The Requirements are Categorized in to two aspect which are Software Requirements and Hardware as explained bellow:
SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS
Your computer should be installed with the following software programs
- Windows operating system
Windows 7 (Home Basic,Home Premium,Professional or Ultimate)
Or Windows 8 Pro,Enterprise *** single Language Build 9200 not compatible
- Language format should be set to English Zimbabwe
- Currency settings should be set to US$
HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS
Your computer should have the following hardware specifications.
- At least 30GIG Harddrive
- A CD/DVD Writer
- At least 1GIG RAM
- Printer.
- Screen resolution should be 1024*768 pixels minimum
- Screen Monitor should be 15 inches (minimum)
Understanding Examination Fees
ZIMSEC has outlined the examination fees for both Ordinary Level and Advanced Level subjects for the June and November sessions of 2024. It’s crucial for parents and students to be aware of these fees to adequately prepare. Here’s a breakdown of the costs:

Ordinary Level (Per subject):
- Candidates from public schools, local authorities, and not-for-profit mission schools: $11.00 (USD).
- Government subsidy: $13.00 (USD).
- Total fees for private schools, colleges, and private candidates: $24.00 (USD).

Advanced Level (Per subject):
- Candidates from public schools, local authorities, and not-for-profit mission schools: $22.00 (USD).
- Government subsidy: $26.00 (USD).
- Total fees for private schools, colleges, and private candidates: $48.00 (USD).

Below are the guidelines for the ZIMSEC Examinations Registration:
- Candidates must register through schools or approved examination centres.
- They must pay their examination fees in full.
- Candidates cannot register at ZIMSEC offices.
- Candidates must not register for examinations at two different centres during one examination sitting: ZIMSEC may nullify one of the sittings.
- ZIMSEC does not allow spouses and other relatives of staff at a centre to sit for examinations at the centre where their relatives work.
- Candidates are advised not to register for two levels of examinations in one sitting; if there is a timetable clash ZIMSEC may cancel one of the entries.
- Private candidates sitting at centres where they are not already known must produce a metal or plastic National ID card, or a passport with an imprinted photograph or a driver’s licence with an imprinted photograph.
