Job Description

The Logistics and Transport team currently seeks to appoint a Logistics Development Manager HSEQ

  • You will track the compliance of Invariants, MAESTRO and TRA requirements and ensure implementation recommendations within pre-determined timeframes while ensuring that the Capex plan takes into account all the HSE needs requiring capex intervention.
  • Ensure management and implementation of operations group company rules
  • Ensure constant adherence and compliance to the Company’s standards, any local by-laws and government legislation. This to minimise all risk pertaining to the company’s assets and stock), be an excellent corporate citizen, remain operational and ensure the safety of all people.


Strategy
To achieve the optimal mix of service and cost in the storage handling and delivery of our products and recommend areas of improvement in the area/country including support provision to NBE countries.

  • Lead optimization projects for the logistics network to enhance cost effectiveness, competitiveness and better service to business.
  • Project manage the optimization models for logistics capabilities
  • Project management of all operations projects including strategic projects – Coordination of all Logistics projects that requires Group approval by effective project management till the Group/CDMS approval stage in -consultation with all relevant parties where applicable. Co-ordinate and be the link between stakeholders, and report milestones to management regularly
  • You will be the departmental lead for project review forums – for technical projects and other projects.
  • Develop and Manage the capex budget as well as presentation of the long term plan while ensuring that all mitigation of risks (strategic, operational, safety, environmental, etc.) have been taken into account.
  • Monitor Capital Expenditure against the budget and keep management informed of major deviations.
  • Management of special projects in depot operations initiatives to enhance efficiency and service provision to business.
  • You will work with Regional depot managers to conduct regular compliance assessments on JV depots in line with applicable laws and company rule/s.


Marketing / Asset Management

  • Be the custodian of logistics infrastructure database and manage all the necessary changes including the necessary communication to stakeholders. Maintaining Information on infrastructure capabilities to guide management decisions on optimisation.
  • Be the link between Operations and supply, communicating changes to infrastructure capabilities (inbound, outbound, storage) – Wet and dry depots
  • Management of tank and pipeline database – to be the sole source of information


HR

  • You will demonstrate and apply the necessary operational, managerial and leadership skills required for the effective management of staff.
  • Develop staff by ensuring competency based on-the-job training is provided.
  • Effectively manage employees through applying the company People Management principles, and to develop, coach and mentor subordinates to promote a positive working environment which will attract and retain skilled staff and increase productivity

Governance

  • Ensure effective risk management and internal control, including asset management, for area of responsibility


Context and environment

  • Technical: Execution of Capital projects in an environment of limited resources (compliant contractors –safety, BBBEE, etc).
  • Operational: Management of Capex projects in a constrained storage capacity with no buffer stock along the supply chain
  • Legal: Engagement with multiple stakeholders (internally and externally including OOCs on operational and strategic matters while maintaining adherence competition law.
  • Audit action plan management for Capex related items
  • Logistics infrastructure database
  • PR approvals for major projects
  • Progress of special projects, Technical projects and optimisation studies

Candidate profile

  • You will need a Degree in Technical / Transport / Operations and Project Management
  • 3-6 years’ Experience in depot operations or logistics (management level) and/or project management
  • Experience in project management
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work as a team player
  • English is the working language
