About the Position

Job Advert Summary

The Department of Agriculture, Western Cape Government has a 12-month contract employment opportunity for suitably qualified and competent individual to assist with Disaster Risk Management Coordination in the Western Cape. This contract position is stationed in Elsenburg, Stellenbosch.

Minimum Requirements

An appropriate BSC Degree in Agriculture; A minimum of 1 year experience; A valid driving licence.

Recommendation

Disaster Management System experience.

Duties and Responsibilities

Provide support to the establishment of fodder banks for drought mitigation; Support the implementation of disaster aid programmes; Implement the Early Warning information systems; Support the implementation of all Agricultural Disaster Relief Funds; Perform all administrative and related functions.

Competencies

Knowledge of the following: Project planning, management and coordination; Audit principles; Public Finance Management Act (PFMA); Risk and Disaster Management practices, projects and services offered; Proven computer literacy; Written and verbal communication and presentation skills; Organising skills.

Remuneration

R 257 508 per annum (Salary Level 7)

Note on remuneration: Cost-to-employer (CTE) remuneration packages for certain occupation-specific dispensations (OSD), the middle-management service (MMS) and contract positions are inclusive of all costs related to service benefits or obligations including basic salary, 13th cheque, medical assistance, housing assistance, pension-fund contributions, etc. MMS remuneration packages are flexible and may be individually structured as prescribed. Where remuneration is not indicated as CTE, employees’ service benefits or obligations are funded or co-funded in terms of the applicable prescripts or collective agreements.
