About PetroSA

The Petroleum Oil and Gas Corporation of South Africa (SOC) Limited (PetroSA) is the country’s National Oil Company. PetroSA is a subsidiary of the CEF, which is wholly owned by the State and reports to the Department of Minerals and Energy.

PetroSA is mandated to operate as a commercial entity that creates value for its shareholders and stakeholders. The mandate includes ensuring the security of energy supply and advancing the broader national objective of the South African petroleum industry for the benefit of the country.

Purpose of the Graduate in Training Programme

Successful candidates will gain exposure to real engineering environments and projects.

Participants will work closely with experienced engineers and technical professionals while learning about industry systems and operations.

Some of the activities interns will participate in include:

  • Shadowing experienced engineers and technical staff
  • Learning professional engineering workflows
  • Assisting with engineering projects and initiatives
  • Conducting research and technical analysis
  • Supporting engineering teams with documentation and reporting
  • Preparing presentations and reports for project teams
  • Maintaining records of training progress and workplace activities

This structured exposure helps graduates transition from theory to practical engineering application.

Mechanical Engineering

  • BSc Engineering
  • BEng
  • BTech

Control Systems Engineering

  • BSc Engineering
  • BEng
  • BTech

Electronics Engineering

  • BSc Engineering
  • BEng
  • BTech

Industrial Engineering

  • BSc Engineering
  • BEng
  • BTech

Metallurgical Engineering / Metallurgy

  • National Diploma
  • BTech
  • BSc

Non-Destructive Testing (NDT)

  • National Diploma
  • BTech

These fields are directly related to engineering operations and industrial processes within PetroSA’s facilities.

Requirements & Qualifications

·       Mechanical Engineering (BSc / B Eng / B Tech)

·       Control Systems (BSc / B Eng / B Tech)

·       Electronics (BSc / B Eng / B Tech)

·       Industrial Engineering (BSc / B Eng / B Tech)

·       Metallurgical Engineering / Metallurgy (N Diploma / B-Tech/ BSc)

·       Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) (N Diploma / B-Tech)

Other Requirements:

·       Must be a South Africa Citizen

·       Recently qualified graduates or candidates requiring practical workplace exposure

·       No employment experience required

·       Must be Physically fit (Medical screening will be conducted)

·       Be Unemployed

·       Must never have been on a previous graduate internship program.

·       Must NOT be currently studying or planning to study in 2026.

·       Candidates can only apply for one opportunity.
