Key 2026 NSFAS Payment Dates
- February 2026 (Upfront Payments): Initial disbursements began around February 2-7 for TVETs and universities to cover registration and initial living costs.
- March 2026 Payments: Scheduled for March 2, 2026, for many institutions.
- April 2026 Payments (Revised): TVET allowance payments were revised to be released on April 17, 2026, brought forward from the 25th.
- University Payments (April): Processed on April 1, 2026, for eligible students, according to a Facebook post by NSFAS.
- Recurring Monthly Cycle: Cycle payments often occur monthly, with cycles reported around the 6th or early in the month.
Key Information for 2026 Students
- Funding Decisions: All 2026 funding decisions were finalized by December 31, 2025, and can be viewed via the myNSFAS portal.
- Unisa Allowance Details: Unisa students can expect allowances from March 27, 2026, if they updated their bank details. Monthly living allowances are R304 for Unisa students.
- Registration Data: Timely payments depend on institutions submitting registration data before cut-off dates.
