Context/Scope:
Nafasi za kazi Serengeti Breweries Limited, Market Analyst Risk -Governance & Sustainability Serengeti Breweries Limited (SBL) is a fully integrated beverage business in Diageo Africa (supply and demand for beer and spirits) It is a subsidiary of East Africa Breweries Limited (EABL), the largest business unit in Diageo Africa and the second largest listed company on the NSE in Kenya. SBL operates exclusively in Tanzania
SBL flagship brand is Serengeti Premium Lager. Other brands in the portfolio include Tusker Lager, Guinness, Kibo Gold, Pilsner and Senator. Headquartered in Dar es Salaam, SBL is also the distributor of several global Diageo international renowned spirits brands such as Johnnie Walker, Smirnoff, Gordon’s, Bailey’s and Captain Morgan.
The company is structured on a regional market basis with market-led purchasing sections, which have been delegated authority to manage their supplies and suppliers. The BPM (Business Performance Management), R&G (Risk & Governance) Procurement Support role provides support to the procurement team, which comprises the Head of Procurement as well as Category teams looking after Demand, Indirects, Raw and Packaging Materials, Logistics and Warehousing. The role will interface with Global Procurement, Finance, Africa Business Services Centre (ABSC) Purchase to Pay (PtP) function; Legal, Compliance, Controls and Ethics among other business functions to drive desired business performance especially on savings to plan, Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) projects, and business insights.
The incumbent will also work closely with in market Heads of Procurement, and Category Excellence Teams to provide the support services, necessary for delivery of procurement services in liaison with the market teams
Dimensions
Financial:Â Accuracy in reporting and managing monthly Business Performance Management (BPM), Supplier financing and financial analysis to track procurement initiatives and drive the right challenge and build conversations.
Market Complexity: Support primarily Kenya business unit driving ownership of key business initiatives which are not necessarily day to day work of the procurement staff.
There is increased focus on compliance with Control Audit & Risk Management (CARM) standards and the Diageo Policies. Hence the incumbent needs to understand the control aspects of such compliance requirements embed the culture within Procurement and sustain the momentum in developing the risk and governance agenda in line with changing business needs.
Responsibilities:
Procurement actions through the category teams around Risk and Governance and provide support to the Kenya procurement team in terms of business performance reporting, audit support, legal, purchase to pay and process improvement. Further the incumbent is expected to provide leadership to all staff in procurement terms of risk and governance and purchase to pay process.
Purpose of Role:
Provide SBL Procurement team and related stakeholders with procurement related support services – Business Performance Management (BPM) reporting, PtP, Legal, Risk & Governance and Tender administration
TOP Accountabilities
Business Performance Reporting
- Compile monthly BPM report i.e. Month To Date, Year To Date and Full Year latest Estimate Savings as well as related commentaries
- Schedule monthly Kenya market BPM session and challenge YTD Savings in line with Annual Operating Plan (AOP) initiatives
- Drive consolidation of monthly BPM packs for EABL Group
- Share and follow up focus areas to ensure the AOP Saving is met month on month
Procurement AOP Planning – Supply
- Compile the annual planning deck for Tanzania
- Work closely with Finance and Global Procurement Finance to obtain inflation assumptions and advise the in-market teams accordingly
- Analyze the Planning file output to ensure aligned inflation assumptions are used consistently through the categories
- Set meetings to review the Planning file for Challenge & Build (C & B) within procurement and with key stakeholders (Finance, Supply Leadership)
- Track version updates of the Planning file as the chief custodian of the document

Procurement AOP Planning – Demand
- Obtain the A & P and Indirects AOP annually and share with the category manager
- Work closely with Finance to obtain spend assumptions / drivers and advise the market teams accordingly
- Set meetings to review the Demand and Indirects Planning file within Procurement and with key stakeholders (Finance, Supply Leadership)
- Track version updates of the Planning file as the chief custodian of the document
- Compile the KPI’s annually and track performance monthly noting the performance drivers
- Share performance with stakeholders as required
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelors Degree in Procurement/ Finance/Logistics and other relevant fields
At least 2-4 years relevant experience in a similar environment or risk & governance related set-up
