How to apply for NSFAS Online National Student Financial Aid Scheme(NSFAS) Official Open the Application Window for the Academic year 2025-2026.
Who Qualifies For NSFAS:
- South African citizen
- family with a combined annual household income of not more than R350 000
- for students with a disability, the combined annual household income of not more than R600 000
- New applicants need a copy of their ID or birth certificate to register and create a myNSFAS account
- Applicants with existing accounts must log onto their accounts to complete an application

Steps to Apply for nsfas Online
- To apply go to my.nsfas.org.za
- Sign in if you have an account or Register a new Account
- After signing in you will be taken to a dashboard Then Press APPLY
- Returning students are not required to apply again but they should maintain a 50% pass on their modules in the current year for nsfas to continue funding them.

University Students Allowances:
- Accommodation: As per the actual costs charged by the university (costs for private accommodation must not exceed costs for university residence)
- Transport (up to 40 km from the institution) R7 500 per annum
- Living allowance R15, 000 per annum
- Book allowances R5200 per annum
- Incidental/personal care allowance of R2900 per annum for students in catered residences
TVET College NSFAS Allowance
- Accommodation in an urban area is R24,000 per annum
- Accommodation in a peri-urban area is R18,900 per annum
- Accommodation in a rural area is R15,750 per annum
- Transport (up to 40 km from the institution) R7,350 per annum
- Transport R7000 per annum
- Incidental/personal care allowance R2900 per annum
