Position Is Available at St. Walburg’s Nyangao Referral Hospital

The hospital is recruiting candidates for the position of Medical Officer II, with a total of three positions available.

Medical Officer II Position

The successful Medical Officer II candidates will provide medical services at St. Walburg’s Nyangao Referral Hospital and support various health-related activities within their assigned areas.

The role covers clinical services, health education, disease surveillance, health planning, research, outreach services and supervision of staff. Medical Officers may also participate in teaching students from health training institutions located within their assigned areas.

Qualifications and Eligibility

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Medicine from a university recognized by the Government.
  • Have completed an internship of not less than 12 months.
  • Be registered with the Medical Council of Tanganyika (MCT).
  • Be a Tanzanian citizen.
  • Be aged between 25 and 35 years.
  • Have a National Identification (NIDA) card or number.

Duties and Responsibilities

The appointed Medical Officers will perform a range of clinical, administrative and public health responsibilities.

These include:

  • Providing medical services relating to various diseases, including paediatric conditions, maternal health conditions and routine emergency surgery.
  • Providing and coordinating health education and promoting community health within the district, region or assigned area.
  • Investigating, monitoring and preventing disease outbreaks.
  • Maintaining health statistics and using them as required under the MTUHA system.
  • Planning and evaluating health services within the assigned area.
  • Supervising and directing employees under their supervision.
  • Teaching students in health training institutions located within the assigned area.
  • Designing and conducting research and disseminating research findings.
  • Developing and implementing strategies to improve the quality of services within their professional field.
  • Preparing health-service plans and budget estimates.
  • Providing outreach services within the district or region.
  • Performing other duties assigned by the supervisor that are related to the applicant’s qualifications, experience and skills.
