Youth Employment Opportunities at Home Affairs (4000 available positions)Unemployed adolescents are invited to apply for different job openings inside the Department of Home Affairs via the National Pathway Management Network, which includes the Departments of Home Affairs, Employment and Labor, and Harambee. There are now 4000 open posts that need to be filled.

Youth Employment Opportunities at Home Affairs

These positions have been created to assist the Department of Home Affairs in its digitimization process of converting over 350 million paper records into electronic format to improve service delivery.

Location: Gauteng Province ( Pretoria) and North West (Brits)

Duration: 36 months (3 years)

Closing Date: March 2nd, 2023

Job Titles, Number Of Positions And Salaries:

  • Indexers – 1600 positions : R5 500 per month
  • Quality Controllers – 200 positions : R6000 per month
  • Team leaders – 210 positions : R6 500 per month
  • Technical Supporters – 24 positions : R9 500 per month
  • Managers – 6 positions : R14 250 per month
  • Document Warehouse Controllers – 16 positions : R5000 per month – R5 000 per month
  • Runners – 240 positions – R5 000 per month
  • Preppers – 735 positions – R5 000 per month
  • Re-assemblers – 734 positions – R5 000 per month
  • Receiving Clerks – 100 positions- R5 000 per month
  • Scanners – 125 positions – R5 000 per month
  • Drivers – 10 positions – R5 000 per month

Home Affairs Youth Employment Opportunities – Minimum Requirements And Duties Per Post:

Must be South African citizens between the ages of 18 and 35 with a clear criminal record.

Indexers, Quality Controllers And Scanners

Diploma in Information Technology or Library Science or Computer Science.

Indexers will be responsible for indexing of files, sort, list and re-assemble files, and box files in batches.

Scanners will be required to scan material using a high-volume scanner, load the scanner and scan bundles, and image clean-up.

Quality Controllers will be conducting quality control for all relevant functions, ensuring that all documents have been scanned correctly with clear images and intered into the internal database.

They will resolve quality-related issues and adhering to deadlines, reject all the scanned records that fail to meet quality expectations, report the issue to the concerned departmet, send boxes abd records for re-scan and storage.

Managers

Honours Degree in Document and / or Records Management, Information Technology, Library Science or Computer Science.

Managers will be responsible for managing and leading teams, overseeing the management of electronic and/or paper-based records. They will also be responding to information enquiries, giving appropriate access to information, and managing budgets and resources.

Runners And Preppers

Higher Certificate in Document and / or Records Management or Information Technology recognised by SAQA at NQF 5.

Runners will be responsible for the retrieval of files from shelves, sort and list files. They will prepare documents for scanning (unfolding, removing of staples and paper clips, sort by document size, insertion of separator sheets). Furthermore, they will sort files in batches, number files and documents.

Preppers‘ duties include preparing records and paper documents for digitization; separating a variety of records, removing staples and paper clips, and binding.

Flag pages, fix bent or torn corners and sort documents according to specifications, edit and amend incorrect information and perform general clerical duties.

To carry out these duties efficiently, preppers should have the ability to sit for long hours, be organized and have the attention to detail, and be computer literate.

Drivers And Document Warehouse Controllers

  • Higher Certificate in Document and / or Records Management or Information Technology
  • A valid driving licence (code 8 and 10)

Drivers will transport boxes and records to and from the storage. facilities to digitization hubs. They will be required to arrive at digitization hubs on schedule and fulfill administrative needs, like office pickups.

Their Additional Duties Include:

    • Research and plan for traffic, construction and weather delays.
    • Use navigation applications to determine the best route.
    • Interact with supervisor/managers professionally at all times.
    • Ensure that the vehicle is always fueled and ready for use.
    • Make Arrangements for vehicle repairs as needed, and keep mileage and repair records up-to-date.

Document Warehouse Controllers will be retrieving records and moving them to storage. They will also be required to copy, scan and store records whilst checking their accuracy and editing them should the need arise.

The Document Warehouse Controllers will retrieve and store records as requested, file records in physical and digital format, and prepare and submit reports.

Re-Assemblers, Receiving Clerks And Team leaders

Diploma in Document and / or Records Management or Information Technology or Computer Science

Responsibilities:

Re-Assemblers: Retrieval of digitized files, returning files to shelves and verifying files with initial files received from source.

Team Leaders must supervise day to day activities, allocate duties, manage performance and provide daily / weekly reports to the PMO.

They must also ensure that all documents are correctly typed and scanned, uploaded and are properly filed and maintained.

Time management and communication skills are required to carry out team leader duties efficiently.

Receiving Clerks will be verifying boxes and files received, capture and number boxes and files received. They will be responsible for unpacking delivery shipments, compares record boxes lists to receiving list, ensuring accurate shipment.

Technical Support

Bachelor Degree in Information Technology or Computer Science.

Duties: IT infrastructure, identifying hardware and software solutions, troubleshooting technical issues and diagnosing and repairing faults.

Additional Duties: Resolving network issues, installing and configuring hardware and software, diagnosing and determining the root of their problem, replacing or repairing the necessary parts, and supporting the roll-out and configuration of ICT infrastructure.

As a technical support team, candidates will also be providing timely and accurate feedback, following up with log calls to ensure the problem has been resolved.

They will be providing support in the form of procedural documentation, testing and evaluating new technologies and conducting electrical safety checks on equipment.
