DementiaSA is a South African Non-Profit Organisation (NPO) that assists families, communities and health professionals who have limited access to private health care, to live with dementia or care for those with dementia.As a lead NGO in the field in dementia, we provide support, counselling, education and training to families, care providers and professional bodies caring for people living with dementia of various types, including Alzheimer’s disease.

DementiaSA seeks to appoint a Social Worker to be based in Cape Town.

This is as an excellent opportunity for a suitably qualified and registered Social Worker to become part of a dynamic and multifaceted team.
A full-time Social Worker is sought to deliver a wide spectrum of services.  but the successful candidate must be able and willing to travel anywhere in South Africa when required.

Employment Type: 6-month contract with the possibility to renew.

Remuneration: Market Related Salary

Requirements:

• We invite applications from currently SACSSP-registered Social Workers who demonstrate a track record of competency across a range of professional outputs, including:
• Experience in direct Social Work services and specifically within the field: Older Persons
• Appropriate attitudes regarding older persons and persons living with dementia
• Working knowledge of dementia and the current SA Legislation regarding Older Persons
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Presentation skills with experience in Training Workshops
• The use of electronic equipment, including computer technology to support work
• Must be comfortable using online data management tools and systems.
• Multi-professional teamwork
• Social Work Administration, including professional reports
• Passionate and self-motivated with unquestionable integrity and work ethics
• Proficient in two of the following languages: Afrikaans, English, Xhosa.
• Must present proof of valid current registration with the SACSSP
• Must present proof of a valid SA Driver’s license and a good driving track record
