The Southern Africa Trust was established in 2005, to support civil society organisations in Southern Africa to participate effectively and with credibility in policy dialogue so that the voices of the poor can have better impact in the development of public policies. Our mandate is to work on a non-profit basis, to engage in activities that contribute to the reduction of poverty & inequality. The Southern Africa Trust seeks to recruit an Executive Office Administrator to be based in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Reports to: Chief Executive Office

Employment Type:  Fixed term employment up to 31 March 2021

The main purpose of this role is to provide efficient and comprehensive executive dministrative and secretarial support to the office of the CEO and the Board in accordance with the Trust  policies and procedures and in compliance with legislative and statutory requirements. 

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for providing Executive Secretarial Support to the CEO
  • Provides full administrative support to the Board, Board Committees and Executive Team
  • Responsible for preparing status reports and for the coordination of information that  support the CEO, Board and the Trust
  • Provides Corporate Governance support
  • Provides stakeholder management support by maintainig valuable Board and stakeholder relationships in conjunction with the CEO
  • Ensures statutory and legislative compliance

Qualification required:

  • A relevant degree in Administration

Experience and skills:

  • 5 years’ of relevant experience, of which at least 2 years must have been at an Executive Administrator level
  • Understanding of Corporate governance principles inclusive of experience of working with Boards.
  • Interpersonal  and administrative skills, problem solving and analysis
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Packages and Social platforms
  • Fluency in English (both oral and written proficiency)
  • Knowledge of French and Portuguese will be an added advantage
