About the Position

Job Advert Summary

The Western Cape Government, Department of Social Development aims to employ a competent and suitably qualified Clinical Psychologist to provide a comprehensive clinical psychology service to residents at in-sourced facilities in a cost effective, efficient and equitable manner. The provision of standardised norms, standards, training and judiciary services for facilities. This post is stationed at the Hub, Directorate: Facility Management in Kraaifontein.

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications: Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology or equivalent qualification that allows registration with the Health Professional Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Clinical Psychologist.

Experience: Grade 1: None after registration with the HPCSA as a Psychologist in respect of RSA qualified employees who performed Community Service, as required in South Africa; or a minimum of 1-year relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA as Psychologist in respect of foreign qualified employees, of whom is not required to perform Community Service, as required in South Africa. Grade 2: A minimum of 8 years’ relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA as a Psychologist in respect of RSA qualified employees who performed Community Service, as required in South Africa; or a minimum of 9 years’ relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA as Psychologist in respect of foreign qualified employees, of whom is not required to perform Community Service, as required in South Africa. Grade 3: A minimum of 16 years’ relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA as a Psychologist in respect of RSA qualified employees who performed Community Service, as required in South Africa; or a minimum of 17 years’ relevant experience after registration with the HPCSA as Psychologist in respect of foreign qualified employees, of whom is not required to perform Community Service, as required in South Africa.

Recommendation

Psychology experience; Experience as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Duties and Responsibilities

Ensure the rendering of clinical psychological services to insourced facilities; Ensure the development of training material and provide training to all residential care staff; Ensure the delivery of specialist clinical psychological services to the inspectorate; Part of a multidisciplinary team.

Project Management skills; Strong leadership skills with specific reference to the ability to display thought leadership in complex application; Outstanding planning, organising and People Management skills; Problem solving and decision making skills; Communication (written and verbal) skills; Proven computer literacy in MS Office (MS Word, MS Excel and MS Outlook); Team building and strong interpersonal skills;

Remuneration

R 713 361 – R 784 278 per annum Grade 1, R 832 398 – R 923 847 per annum Grade 2, R 966 039 – R 1 137 936 Grade 3 (OSD as prescribed)

Note on remuneration: Cost-to-employer (CTE) remuneration packages for certain occupation-specific dispensations (OSD), the middle-management service (MMS) and contract positions are inclusive of all costs related to service benefits or obligations including basic salary, 13th cheque, medical assistance, housing assistance, pension-fund contributions, etc. MMS remuneration packages are flexible and may be individually structured as prescribed. Where remuneration is not indicated as CTE, employees’ service benefits or obligations are funded or co-funded in terms of the applicable prescripts or collective agreements.
