Who We Are

SRHR Africa Trust (SAT) supports adolescents and young people in southern Africa to walk healthy, happy, confident, and safe pathways to adulthood.  We are a 30-year-old NGO focused on young people, SRHR, and the drivers of adolescent health and wellness. All our programming is with young people and through young people, and our Youth Hubs and partner organizations link young people to one another, as well as linking them to health services, governments, the African Union Commission and global agencies.

As of the 1st of January 2021 SAT forms one-third of a Consortium called Break-free! (BF!) along with Plan International and Forum for African Women Educationalists (FAWE). The strategic programme objective (SPO) of the Break Free! The consortium is for adolescents to exercise their right to live free from Teenage Pregnancy (TP) and Child Marriage (CM), supported by civil society. The SPO will be implemented in nine (9) countries: Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Kenya, Mali, Malawi, Mozambique, Niger, Sudan and Zambia, as well as at the regional and continental level. The Break Free! Programme is funded by the Netherlands’ Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) and will run between the years 2021 – 2025.

We seek a Regional Coordinator who will be responsible for coordinating and implementing the BF! Programme for the Southern Africa region. The successful candidate will have strong management skills as well as relevant experience implementing SRHR programmes.

Scope of Work:

  • To coordinate regional programme implementation in cooperation with BF! partners by initiating (quarterly) coordination/monitoring meetings with the BF! Consortium partners in-country.
  • To ensure that there is no duplication in BF! programme activities and to ensure cooperation as well as effective and efficient partnerships between the regional programme and the Consortium Desk.
  • To guide and coordinate the development and approval of annual plans and budgets in a timely and qualitative manner.
  • To ensure timely and quality reporting on progress and results.
  • To facilitate planning, monitoring, and reporting processes and oversees processes of joint learning on context, programme and collaboration with support from the planning, monitoring, evaluation, and learning (PMEL) working group.
  • To facilitate and oversee joint annual monitoring, review and planning for the Southern Africa region.
  • To liaise between country, regional and international programme levels. Communicate directly with the Consortium Desk on operational issues. Support and facilitate effective collaboration between the Lead Country Team (LCT) and Regional Programme Committee.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate:
Must have:

  • Master’s Degree in Public Health, Development Studies, Social Sciences or equivalent
  • 8 years of work experience in a developmental environment
  • 5 years of project management experience
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Powerpoint, Excel)
  • Excellent communication, written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational, prioritizing, and multi-tasking skills
  • Good understanding and background in Sexual Reproductive Health Rights
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills, creative problem solving, conflict, and ethical management skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
