Job Purpose

The Project Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating the correct implementation of urban Initiatives in the City of Morondava (Madagascar) and City of Moroni (Comoros). The urban initiatives are implemented in close collaboration and full engagement of the City of Morondava and City of Moroni and UN-Habitat.

Key Responsibilities

He/she will be responsible for ensuring:

  • Coordination of the Initiatives to be implemented in Madagascar and Comoros
  • Support to the Oxfam Project Manager based in South Africa in ensuring compliance to the financial and narrative requirement of the donor
  • Support the National Project Managers in correctly implementing the Initiatives

The initiatives are related to:

  • Improvement of the city’s drainage system and solid waste management
  • Establishment of early warning system and construction of a multi-purposed haven
  • Rehabilitation and protection of eco-system and natural resources
  • Improvement of urban mobility.

The Incumbent will be working in strict collaboration and with the support of Oxfam Project Manager/Resilience Expert  and the 2 National Project Managers based in Madagascar and Comoros.

Qualifications:

  • South African nationality or permanent resident status or permanent work permit  (compulsory)
  • Sound experience in coordinating multi-stake-holders projects and in supporting the financial management of Projects, entailing high level of operations and logistics
  • Solid knowledge in using grant management framework/templates and  related reporting
  • Experience in writing concept notes and proposals
  • Familiarity with the gender responsive and human rights centred approach
  • Knowledge and experience in Disaster Risks Management Cycle, Urban resilience and Climate Change
  • Excellent knowledge (compulsory) of French (written and spoken –) English (written and spoken)
