Role Purpose
The Business Development Manager: IoT Products & Services role is based in the Enterprise Business Unit (Vodacom Business)

The purpose of the role of the Business Development Manager – IoT Products & Services:

  • To drive successful sales penetration and growth of Unified Communications Key Propositions across sector channels and deliver new business and profitability targets.
  • To provide thought leadership to engage new clients and exceed expectations based on constructing and delivering a winning proposition and customer business cases for enterprise business customers.
  • To work alongside client directors and client managers to evangilize capability/opportunity and then identify approach, construct and conclude winning bids.
  • To provide input into deal shaping and evangelising innovative business models to fast track the profitable consumptions of Unified Communication products and the Vodacom’s greater portfolio

Your responsibilities will include:
Key accountabilities & decision ownership:

  • Working with relationship owners to provide consultative client engagement and thought leadership in defining and driving sales activity for demand generation and winning propositions
  • Leverage relationship with product management to jointly define and drive ‘focus propositions’ to pro-actively develop incremental business opportunity
  • Work with the sales team to provide product, business and technical knowledge on identified opportunities
  • Lead competitive learning by market research, evaluating competitor products, programmes, weaknesses, strenghts, strategies and then educating key internal stakholders to develop competitive solutions.


Key performance indicators:

  • Develop an understanding of Vodacom’s fixed and mobile convergence propositions and the ability to articulate Vodacom’s sustainable competitive advantage in this regard
  • Provide client and market led input into product strategy
  • Maintain up to date understanding of industry trends and technical developments that affect the market

Technical and Professional Qualifications

  • Matric
  • 3 year degree in Business Management, BCom or Computer Science or an equivalent qualification
  • A minimum of 3 years proven track record in IoT Products and Services pre-sales and solution development
  • A minimum of 5 years of proven track record of developing and effectively implementing sales solutions to meet the Business and Clients needs and drive business results for and/or within the ICT Industry
  • Extensive and strong business acumen with a deep strategic perspective and ablity to quickly understand business strategy.
