Road Accident Fund (RAF) Announced New Job Vacancies Around South African Provinces Recruits Driver/Messenger X7 Posts Available for Qualified South African to fill this Public sector Job position.

About Road Accident Fund (RAF)

The RAF is a juristic person established by an Act of Parliament, namely, the Road Accident Fund Act, 1996 (Act No. 56 of 1996) as amended (”RAF Act”). It commenced operations on 1 May 1997, assuming at the time, all the rights, obligations, assets and liabilities of the Multilateral Motor Vehicle Accidents Fund.

The RAF is responsible for providing​ appropriate cover to all road users within the borders of South Africa; rehabilitating and compensating persons injured as a result of motor vehicles in a timely and caring manner; and actively promoting the safe use of all South African roads. Section 3 of the RAF Act stipulates that “the object of the Fund shall be the payment of compensation in accordance with this Act for loss or damage wrongfully caused by the driving of a motor vehicle”. ​​

 Key Duties Areas

1) Messenger Services

Core duties include:

  • Collecting and verifying correspondence from institutions
  • Delivering packages and documents within set timeframes
  • Handling sensitive files and materials carefully
  • Driving delivery vehicles to assigned destinations
  • Maintaining communication with departure and destination points
  • Obtaining delivery signatures and confirmations
  • Recording daily visits and movements in logbooks
  • Sorting documents based on delivery routes
  • Planning efficient transport routes

2) Administration Support

This position includes strong document control responsibilities:

  • Monitoring messenger service availability
  • Archiving documents according to National Archives requirements
  • Sorting and classifying files
  • Managing off-site storage records
  • Maintaining departmental records inventory
  • Logging document transfers and retention schedules
  • Supporting copying and document binding services

3) Transport & Operational Duties

  • Transporting staff and equipment
  • Loading and unloading materials
  • Supporting operational logistics across departments
  • Reporting mechanical and electrical vehicle faults

4) Vehicle & Equipment Maintenance

  • Conducting daily pre-trip inspections
  • Performing post-trip safety checks
  • Ensuring vehicle roadworthiness
  • Maintaining copying and binding equipment functionality

5) Reporting Responsibilities

  • Reporting accidents, violations, or equipment loss
  • Submitting logbooks in line with fleet policies
  • Reporting unexpected delays
  • Flagging major equipment faults

6) Mail & Records Processing

  • Registering incoming and outgoing mail
  • Sorting documents and correspondence
  • Preparing bulk mail distributions
  • Recording registered and Docex mail
  • Capturing received monies in registers
  • Ensuring correct delivery channels

Who Should Apply Road Accident Fund 2026 Driver/Messenger Vacancies: X7 Posts Available?

To qualify for this role, applicants must meet the following criteria:

Education

  • Matric / Grade 12 certificate

Licensing

  • Valid Code 10 (EC1/EC) driver’s licence
  • Professional Driver’s Permit (PDP)

Experience

  • At least 1 year of experience in:
    • Driving services
    • Messenger or logistics environment
