The Public Protector is an independent institution established in terms of section 181 of the Constitution, with a mandate to support and strengthen constitutional democracy. A supreme administrative oversight body, the Public Protector has the power to investigate, report and remedy improper conduct in state affairs. The Public Protector must be accessible to all persons and communities. Anyone can complaint to the Public Protector.

About the Public Protector SA Internship Programme 2026

The internship is designed to provide hands-on training, professional mentorship, and real workplace exposure to graduates who hold an NQF Level 6 or 7 qualification. Interns will be placed either at the Head Office in Pretoria or at provincial offices across South Africa, depending on organisational needs and availability.

This is a 24-month fixed-term internship, making it one of the longest and most valuable graduate development opportunities currently available in the public sector.
