About Judicial Service Commission
The authority of the Judicial Service Commission as a body to manage the employment and discipline of Court employees is based on Article 113(1) (b) of the Constitution of the United Republic of Tanzania, Edition of 1977 read together with Article no. 29 (1) of the Court Operation Act No. 4 of 2011 is as follows:
- To advise Hon. President about;
- Appointment of Chief Justice and Judges of the High Court of Tanzania,
- Appointment of Chief Executive of the Court, Registrar General, Registrar of Court of Appeal and Registrar of the High Court,
- Incapacity of the Judge of Appeal, Presiding Judge or Judge of High Court to perform office duties,
- Unsatisfactory conduct of the Judge of Appeal, Chief Judge, Chief Executive of the Court, Registrar General, Registrar of the Court of Appeal and Registrar of the High Court,
- Interests of employees of the Court of Tanzania.
- Analyzing complaints against the Appellate Judge, Presiding Judge, or any Court Officer,
- Taking administrative measures against the Judge of Appeal, Chief Judge, or Judge other than the measures specified in the Constitution, Appointing, promoting and taking disciplinary measures against Court Officers,
- Hiring and promoting or taking disciplinary action against any employee who is not an officer of the Court as specified in the law.

The Judicial Service Commission is a body created in accordance with paragraph 112 (1) of Constitution of the United Republic of Tanzania of 1977. In addition, the Operating Act of Court No. 4/2011 provides the Judicial Service Commission with responsibilities its other role is to recruit staff of various cadres of the Court of Tanzania.
