Responsibilities of Examination Assistants

Successful applicants will assist marking centre administration teams with essential operational duties.

Main responsibilities include:

  • Sorting and packing examination scripts
  • Moving scripts between secure areas
  • Supporting script control procedures
  • Assisting administrative managers
  • Performing general duties assigned at marking centres

Accuracy, confidentiality, and reliability are critical because examination materials are sensitive national documents.

Marking Sessions

Applicants must choose ONLY ONE marking session per application.

  1. June Senior Certificate Examination (SCE)
  • Limited to specific districts:
    • Umlazi
    • Pinetown
  • Period: 26 June – 12 July 2026
  1. October/November National Senior Certificate (NSC)
  • Available across all 12 KZN districts
  • Period: 25 November – 15 December 2026

Important rule:

If appointed for one session, you will not automatically be considered for the other.

Qualifications and Requirements

To qualify, applicants must meet ALL requirements below:

  • Must be a student currently registered at a tertiary institution
  • Must reside within the area of the selected marking venue
  • Must have own transport and accommodation arrangements
  • Must complete a separate application for each marking session (if applying)
  • Must submit a fully completed Z83 form

Applications from the following individuals will NOT be considered:

  • Applicants currently employed as Educator Assistants or Teacher Assistants
  • Working individuals not meeting student requirements

Applications must include:

  • Completed Z83 Application Form
  • Comprehensive Curriculum Vitae (CV)
  • Certified copy of South African ID
  • Certified Matric Certificate
  • Original written confirmation of tertiary registration

Important notes:

  • Faxed applications will NOT be accepted.
  • Late applications will NOT be considered.
  • Applications must be posted on time.
