Eskom Door for the South African Skilled youth who wants to work with them to Apply for the Youth Employment Service (YES) 2026 in the Distribution Division (Customer Service / Retail Business Unit) across Vryburg, Rustenburg, and Lichtenburg in the North West Province.

About Eskom

Eskom Holdings SOC Ltd is a state-owned corporation (SOC) as defined by the Companies Act 71 of 2008. It is entirely owned by the South African government, with the Minister of Electricity and Energy serving as the Shareholder representative. Eskom operates across the electricity value chain, providing generation, transmission, and distribution services within South Africa, and participates in electricity trading within the Southern African Development Community (SADC).

The Eskom Youth Employment Service (YES) Programme 2026 is part of a national initiative aimed at reducing youth unemployment in South Africa.

Through this programme, Eskom provides young people with practical work experience, helping them build skills and improve their chances of long-term employment.

These are strategic service centres supporting electricity distribution operations across the North West region.

This means participants may assist with:

  • customer account queries
  • service requests
  • administrative coordination
  • electricity service documentation support
  • internal customer relations workflows

What You Will Gain During the 12-Month Placement

Although the role falls within administration and customer service, the exposure is broader than many entry-level placements.

Minimum Requirements

To qualify, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Must be a South African citizen
  • Must be aged between 18 and 34
  • Must have Grade 12
  • Must have:
    • Mathematics (minimum 50%), OR
    • Mathematical Literacy (minimum 70%)
  • Must have English at 60%
  • Must have at least one additional South African official language

These requirements reflect Eskom’s intention to recruit candidates capable of operating effectively in customer service environments.

YES Programme Selection Criteria

In addition to academic requirements, applicants must also meet YES Programme eligibility conditions:

You must:

  • Not have been permanently employed with one employer for longer than 12 months
  • Not be studying full-time during the placement year
  • Not have previously participated in the YES initiative
  • Be willing to work within the North West GEMMA Cluster placement areas

These conditions ensure the programme reaches youth who genuinely need their first work exposure opportunity.
