Job Opportunities at TANROADS Dar es salaam May 2021 TANZANIA NATIONAL ROADS AGENCY (TANROADS) is a Semi-Autonomous Agency under the Ministry of Works established on July 1, 2000 and is responsible for the day-to-day management of the Tanzania Mainland’s trunk and regional roads network. Its primary functions include the management of maintenance and development works, operations of the network and Axle Load Control, the implementation of road safety and environmental measures, provision of advice on the strategic framework, policies and plans for the road sector.

Regional Manager, TANROADS – DAR ES SALAAM is looking for suitable qualified Tanzanian candidates for nine (9) posts available at Potable Weighbridge Dar es Salaam. Regional Manager TANROADS – Dar es Salaam invites interested candidates to apply for the following positions

 

1: POSITION TITLE: SHIFT IN – CHARGE – (3 POSTS)

Key qualifications for the Shift In – Charge;

  • Holder of 1st Degree in any profession. (Higher qualification will be advantageous);
  • Must be Computer literate (at least Advance Certificate in Computer Applications);
  • Must be fluent in both written and spoken Kiswahili and English languages;
  • Must be a Tanzanian Citizen;
  • Between 35 and 40 years of age.

Duties and Responsibilities of shift In – Charge

  • The shift In – Charge who reports to the Regional Manager through the Axle Load Control Supervisor (ALCS) will be responsible for:
  • Enforcing Road Traffic Axle Load Control by the use of Weighbridge scale devices;
  • Supervising shift activities that among others including:
  • Weighing motor vehicles Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) >500Kg plying on our public Roads;
  •  Imposing road damage fees on the spot for overloaded vehicles;
  •  Measuring physical dimensions of motor vehicle or any load being carried on the motor vehicle for providing advices to transporters incase of non compliance with vehicle dimension limit;
  • Recording all necessary particulars regarding the motor vehicle being weighed;
  •  Observing good customer care, dignity and integrity;
  •  Reporting all matters on Axle Load Control to the Regional Manager through the ALCS;
  •  Performing other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Regional Manager / ALCS;

 

  • POSITION TITLE: WEIGHBRIDGE OPERATOR – (2 POSTS)

Key qualifications for the weighbridge Operator;

Holder of full Technician Certificate in Civil, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (FTC), (Higher qualification will be advantageous);

Must be Computer literate (At least Advance Certificate in Computer Applications);

Must be fluent in both written and spoken Kiswahili and English languages;

Must be a Tanzanian Citizen;

Not above 35 years of age.

 

Duties and Responsibilities of the Weighbridge Operator

 

  • The holder of this post who reports to Shift In – Charge will be responsible for:
  • Enforcing Road Traffic Axle Load Control by the use of Weighbridge scale devices;
  • Carrying out activities as described in the Road Traffic (maximum Weigh of Vehicles) Regulations, 2001 which include the following:
  • Weighing Motor Vehicles Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) >500kg plying on our public Roads;
  •  Imposing road damage fees on the spot for overloaded motor vehicles;
  •  Measuring physical dimensions of motor vehicle or any load being carried on the motor vehicle for determining compliance or non – compliance with vehicle dimension limits by the transporter for provision of relevant advice;
  •  Recording all necessary particulars regarding the motor vehicle being weighed;
  •  Observing good customer care, dignity and integrity;
  •  Reporting all matters of the respective shift to the Shift In – Charge;
  •  Performing other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Shift In – Charge / ALCS.

 

POSITION TITLE: CASHIER – (2 POSTS) 

Key qualifications for the Cashier;

 

  • Holder of Ordinary Secondary Education / Advance Secondary Education and ATEC, NABE stage III or equivalent (Higher qualification will be advantageous);
  • Must be Computer literate (at least Advance Certificate in Computer Applications);
  • Must be fluent in both written and spoken Kiswahili and English languages;
  • Must be a Tanzanian Citizen;
  • Not above 35 years of age

Duties and Responsibilities of the Cashier

  • The holder of this post who reports to Head of Accounts and Administration will be responsible for:
  • Enforcing of Road Traffic Axle Load Control by the use of Weighbridge scale devices;
  • Carrying out activities as described in the Road Traffic (maximum Weigh of Vehicles) Regulations, 2001 which include the following:
  • Collecting and banking all Weighbridge charges (fees) according to weighbridge report form;
  •  Seeking current USD exchange rates issued by Bank of Tanzania for case of imposing charges that are equivalent to Tanzania Shilling;
  •  Filling all records timely;
  •  Maintaining asset register;
  •  Observing good customer care, dignity and integrity;
  •  Reporting all matters to the ALCS;
  •  Performing other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Head of Accounts and Administration / ALCS.
  •  

 POSITION TITLE: DRIVER – (1 POST) 

Key qualifications for the Driver;

  • Holder of a Form IV Certificate;
  • Holder of valid Class C driving licence
  • Having driving experience of at least three years;
  • Must be fluent in both written and spoken Kiswahili and English languages;
  • Must be a Tanzanian Citizen;
  • Not above 35 years of age

Duties and Responsibilities of the Driver

  • The holder of this post who reports to Shift In – Charge will be responsible for:
  • Carrying out activities as described in the Road Traffic (maximum Weigh of Vehicles)
  • Regulations, 2001 which include the following:
  • Driving Agency light vehicles in urban and remote areas;
  • Maintaining the vehicle logbook and all accident records pertaining to the assigned vehicle;
  • Keeping the vehicle in good working order and in clean condition;
  • Reporting repairs or maintenance needs of the vehicle to the ALCS timely;
  • Observing good customer care, dignity and integrity;
  • Performing such other related duties as may be assigned by the Shift In – Charge/ALCS.

POSITIONTITLE: ROAD RESERVE MANAGEMENT ASSISTANT – (9 POSTS)

Key qualifications for the Road Reserve Management Assistant;

  • Holder of a Form IV Certificate;
  • Must be fluent in both written and spoken Swahili language;
  • Must be a Tanzanian Citizen;
  • Not above 35 years of age

Duties and Responsibilities of the Road Reserve Management Assistant

 

  • The holder of this post who reports to Head of Planning unit will be responsible for:
  • To protect road signs, road furniture and road asset from theft/vandalism and distortion within the Region
  • To education users and the public on matters related to road reserves.
  • To inform/report supervisor any vandalism/damage caused on roads and imposing fines to anyone who misuse the road reserve, damages, remove or obscures road furniture/road assets.
  • To perform any other related duties assigned by the Supervisor.
