In the event that the application is disapproved, SASSA will issue a letter indicating the reason for the unfavorable results. In case you find the results unwarranted, you may be allowed to reach out to the Minister of Social Development at the National Department of Social Development. Note that the SASSA appeal must be lodged within 90 days after you received the notification that your application was unsuccessful.

How much is the SASSA Old Age Grant?

Should your SASSA Old Age Grant Application be favorably reviewed, you will start receiving payments from the date you made the submission. SASSA pays R2,200 per month to Old Age Grant recipients aged 75 or older and R2,180 per month to those under 75. These payment amounts reflect the updated SASSA increased grant payments for 2024.
