DATA SCIENTIST

Job Purpose

The Data Scientist is responsible for designing, developing, validating, deploying, and continuously improving data science and machine learning solutions that deliver measurable business value in banking, while complying with the Bank’s AI governance, model risk management, data governance, information security, privacy, and regulatory requirements. The role ensures models and analytical solutions are accurate, explainable, fair, secure, well-documented, and fit for purpose throughout their lifecycle.

Principle Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and implement predictive, prescriptive, and optimization models for priority banking use cases such as fraud detection, credit risk assessment, collections, customer analytics, and operational efficiency.
  • Translate business problems into data science use cases, define success criteria with stakeholders, and ensure proposed solutions align with approved business objectives and governance requirements.
  • Perform data exploration, feature engineering, model training, testing, and performance evaluation using sound statistical and machine learning techniques.
  • Prepare complete model documentation, including business rationale, methodology, assumptions, data sources, feature definitions, limitations, performance metrics, and implementation considerations, to support review, approval, audit, and regulatory scrutiny.
  • Ensure models are developed and maintained in line with the Bank’s AI governance framework, model risk management standards, data governance requirements, responsible AI principles, and applicable regulatory obligations.
  • Support model validation and approval processes by providing transparent documentation, reproducible development artefacts, evidence of testing, and clear explanations of model logic, outputs, and limitations.
  • Assess and mitigate risks relating to model bias, unfair outcomes, data quality, privacy, explainability, robustness, and misuse, and escalate material issues through the appropriate governance channels.
  • Collaborate with Data Engineering, MLOps, IT, Risk, Compliance, Information Security, Internal Audit, and business teams to ensure controlled deployment, integration, monitoring, and change management for analytical solutions.
  • Monitor models and analytical solutions in production for performance, stability, drift, fairness, and operational effectiveness, and recommend recalibration, retraining, rollback, or retirement where required.
  • Maintain version control, traceability, and audit trails for datasets, code, experiments, model versions, approvals, and production changes in accordance with internal standards.
  • Apply appropriate controls for data confidentiality, customer privacy, access management, and secure handling of sensitive information throughout the model lifecycle.
  • Contribute to model inventories, periodic reviews, performance reporting, and governance forums by providing timely updates on model status, issues, risks, and remediation actions.
  • Support experimentation with advanced techniques such as time-series forecasting, natural language processing, and deep learning where justified by business need, data readiness, and governance approval.
  • Promote a culture of responsible, ethical, and evidence-based use of AI and analytics across the organisation, including knowledge sharing and adherence to approved standards and practices.

Qualifications Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in machine learning, statistical modeling, or data analysis.
  • Professional certifications in Azure AI, Data Science, MLOps, and Responsible AI are mandatory.
  • Master’s degree in Data Science, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning, Statistics, Business Analytics, or an MBA with a specialization in Analytics will be an added advantage.
  • Demonstrated experience in machine learning, data engineering, AI governance, and business value realization.
  • Proficiency in Python, SQL, and machine learning frameworks such as Scikit-learn, XGBoost, TensorFlow, or PyTorch.
  • Strong understanding of statistics, probability, and data science principles.
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, Matplotlib, and Seaborn to communicate insights effectively.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based machine learning solutions on AWS, Azure, or GCP.

1: FEATURE ENGINEERING SPECIALIST

Job Purpose

The Feature Engineering Specialist is responsible for designing, developing, testing, and continuously improving features and feature pipelines that support accurate and reliable machine learning solutions and deliver measurable business value in banking, while complying with the Bank’s AI governance, model risk management, data governance, information security, privacy, and regulatory requirements.

The role ensures features the data inputs used by models are relevant, reusable, traceable, well-documented, and consistent between model development and operational use throughout their lifecycle.

Qualifications Required

  • Bachelors degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in data science, machine learning, feature engineering, data engineering, advanced analytics.
  • Relevant professional certifications in data science, machine learning, artificial intelligence, cloud computing, data engineering, or MLOps are an added advantage.
  • Hands-on experience with machine learning frameworks and libraries such as scikit-learn, TensorFlow, or equivalent tools, including feature selection and dimensionality reduction.
  • Practical knowledge of data pipelines, big-data processing, version control, reproducibility, feature monitoring, and MLOps practices.
  • Good understanding of data governance, data quality, model risk management, responsible AI, information security, privacy, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to translate business requirements into effective feature solutions.
  • Strong proficiency in Python and SQL, with practical experience in data exploration, data cleaning, transformation, statistical analysis, and feature engineering.

3: FINANCIAL REPORTING OFFICER

The Candidates must be in Katanga as the role is based in Lubumbashi.

To ensure that the Bank’s financial and regulatory reports are accurate, complete and prepared on a timely basis in accordance with applicable financial reporting standards, including IFRS and GCEC, regulatory guidelines, Bank policies and established procedures.

Qualifications Required

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting,  Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Professional certification such as ACCA, CPA, CIMA, CFA, or progress towards obtaining such certification, will be an added advantage.

Experience

·       1-3 years of relevant experience in financial reporting, accounting, regulatory reporting, financial analysis, or a related  finance function.

·       Experience within a banking or financial services environment is highly preferred.

·       Experience in preparing financial statements, management reports, or regulatory returns is an added advantage.

Knowledge

·       Strong knowledge of General Ledger (GL) accounting principles.

·       Good understanding of financial reporting and financial statement preparation.

·       Knowledge of regulatory reporting requirements and prudential guidelines.

·       Understanding of IFRS and applicable accounting standards.

·       Knowledge of trial balance preparation and account reconciliations.

·       Understanding of financial controls and audit requirements.

·       Good understanding of core banking systems and financial reporting processes.

·       Knowledge of statutory reporting requirements.

·       Strong Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, SUMIFS, and financial analysis tools.

·       Understanding of financial covenants and compliance monitoring.

·       Ability to analyze financial data and investigate variances or discrepancies.

4: LEGAL OFFICER – CREDIT DOCUMENTATION

Job Purpose

The Candidates must be in Katanga at the time of application as the role is based in Lubumbashi.

The Legal Officer Credit will provide dedicated legal support to the Credit function throughout the credit lifecycle by ensuring that facility and security documentation is legally sound, approved terms are properly documented, securities are validly created and perfected and recovery or enforcement actions are effectively supported.

Qualifications Required

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

·       Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or equivalent law degree from a recognised institution.

·       Minimum 3 – 5 years’ relevant experience in banking/financial services legal practice, secured lending, commercial law or a reputable law firm supporting financial institutions.

·       Good knowledge of DRC commercial and banking laws, OHADA legal framework, security creation/perfection and enforcement procedures.

·       Practical experience in drafting and reviewing loan, security and commercial agreements.

·       Experience in recoveries, litigation management and coordination with external counsel is desirable.

·       Admission to other relevant professional qualifications is an added advantage.

·       Strong legal drafting, contract review and legal research skills.

·       Sound understanding of secured lending, collateral perfection and enforcement.

·       Strong analytical, problem-solving and risk assessment skills.

·       Good negotiation, communication and report writing skills.

·       Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.

·       High level of integrity, confidentiality, attention to detail and accountability.

·       Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet agreed turnaround times.

Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and legal/document tracking tools.

5: CALL CENTER

Job Purpose

Candiates must be in Katanga at the time of application as the role is based in Lubumbashi. The Contract is Fixed Term for 2 years.

The Contact Centre Agent is responsible for handling customer interactions efficiently and professionally across multiple channels, including calls, email, social media and live chat. The role ensures that customer enquiries, requests, applications, suggestions and complaints are addressed accurately, promptly and in accordance with the Bank’s policies and Contact Centre procedures.

Qualifications Required

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

·       Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification.

·       1–2 years of relevant experience in customer service, Contact Centre operations, banking or a related environment is preferred.

·       Good knowledge of customer service practices, Contact Centre systems and banking products and services.

·       Good computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

·       Good data entry and typing skills.
