The Youth Employment Service (YES) initiative is a national programme aimed at reducing youth unemployment in South Africa. Through its partnership with the YES initiative, Clicks provides structured workplace experience to young people in Gauteng.

List of Programme Offers

  1. Classroom-Based Learning

Participants will receive structured theoretical training aligned with the NQF 2 Checkout Operator qualification. This includes:

  • Customer service fundamentals
  • Basic retail operations
  • Point-of-sale systems
  • Handling payments and cash control
  • Workplace communication
  • Retail compliance and ethics
  1. Practical On-the-Job Training

You will be placed in a Clicks retail store in Gauteng where you will:

  • Operate checkout tills
  • Assist customers with purchases
  • Process payments
  • Maintain retail hygiene and safety standards
  • Work within a team environment

This is real retail experience – not simulated training.

  1. National Qualification

Upon successful completion, participants receive:

  • NQF Level 2 Checkout Operator occupational qualification

This gives you formal recognition in the retail sector.

Minimum Requirements

To qualify, you must meet all of the following:

  • South African citizen
  • Aged between 18 and 29 years
  • Must have passed Matric
  • Must be unemployed
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work well in a team
  • Willingness to learn
  • Must not currently be registered on a Learnership or Skills Programme

If you are already on another funded programme (such as a SETA learnership or internship), you will not qualify.
