The Bakhresa Group, one of the top industrial houses in Tanzania, East Africa, includes AZAM TV. The Bakhresa Group owns and manages a sizable number of retail locations and businesses that sell goods in all of Tanzania. Numerous businesses fall under its purview, and it invests mostly in the packaging, logistics, marine passenger services, petroleum, and entertainment industries. Their first venture into television-based entertainment was AZAM TV.
Tanzanians were not generally open to watching television as a form of entertainment, especially pay-TV, when AZAM TV set out to introduce a new satellite television package there in 2013. The availability of disposable income, video streaming, and general technology was very restricted nationwide. Additionally, well-established broadcasters that relied on terrestrial modes of communication already served the Tanzanian market.
