About Artscape Theatre Centre 

Artscape Theatre Centre, which belongs to the provincial administration, was opened on 19 May 1971 as the Nico Malan Theatre Centre.

The Cape Performing Arts Board (CAPAB) that was instituted in the early 1960’s, programmed and managed the then Nico Malan Theatre Centre as a production house with four arts companies – orchestra, opera, ballet, and drama. These companies had full-time artists, technical and administrative staff.

This internship focuses on digital marketing and social media management within the performing arts industry.

Interns will support Artscape’s online presence and marketing initiatives.

EPWP Technical Theatre Internships

Artscape is also recruiting interns for technical theatre training through the Artscape Technical Training Academy.

Available roles include:

  • Lighting Intern
  • Sound Intern
  • Stage Management Intern (2 posts)

These internships allow participants to gain hands-on experience working on real theatre productions.

Key Responsibilities

Interns will:

  • Participate in technical theatre training
  • Assist in lighting and sound setups
  • Support stage management during productions
  • Work with theatre automation systems
  • Attend all scheduled training sessions
  • Complete practical learning assignments
  • Submit monthly activity reports
  • Follow safety procedures and PPE requirements

Minimum Requirements
