Tufts Canvas Login: Helpful Guide to TUFTS Learning Management SystemĀ  The learning management system utilised at Tufts University is called Tufts Canvas. It offers a collaborative setting for the course materials, homework, and grading.

Courses and programmes offered through Tufts Online are also run on the Canvas platform. The majority of teachers, but not all of them, will post course materials including the syllabus, readings, quizzes, and other materials on a Canvas course site.

Trunk and Tufts University Sciences Knowledgebase were replaced by the learning management system (LMS) Canvas, which Tufts started using in October 2017. (TUSK). In addition to TUSK, some courses at some Tufts schools (Cummings) use it as an additional learning management system.

By visiting canvas.tufts.edu and entering your Tufts Username and password, you can gain access to Canvas and the necessary course resources.

  1. Navigate to login.canvas.tufts.edu.
  2. Click on Tufts Login.
  3. On the canvas login page, enter your Tufts username.
  4. Next, enter your Tufts Password.
  5. Click ā€œLoginā€ to access your tufts canvas courses.

Courses with identical titles may be difficult to differentiate since Tufts SIS (Student Information Systems) generates course names based on words, departments, and section numbers for the majority of courses.

The Dashboard, Course Navigation Menu, breadcrumbs, and notification emails all display course nicknames.

A course nickname simply modifies the name of the course for the specific user who established the nickname; it has no impact on the account- or course-level course name.

Hovering your cursor over the nickname will reveal the course’s original name if you need to know it. Also unaffected, the course code always appears on the course card for course reference.

To nickname your canvas dashboard cards;

  • Navigate to your Tufts Canvas Dashboard.
  • Click on the Properties Icon (3 vertical dots) for the class card you want to nickname.
  • This displays the properties panel for that class card.
  • Edit the Nickname box, then click Apply.

How to organize your tufts canvas dashboard

If you have an account on more than one Canvas course, you can create a “favourite” list in your Courses / All Courses to specify which active courses you want to display in your Canvas Dashboard.

The courses list automatically displays up to 20 courses in alphabetical order in the Dashboard when no courses are favorited (the default).

To make a list of your favourite courses that will appear on your Tufts Canvas Dashboard:

  1. Go to Courses, then select All Courses. This displays all of the courses on which you have an account.
  2. Click on the Star icon for each couse you want to display on your Dashboard. Clicking on the Star will turn the star icon red indicating that this is a ā€œfavoriteā€ and you want it listed on your Canvas Dashboard.
  3. Go to your Dashboard. Your Favorite courses are now the only courses listed on the Dashboard.

How to add additional email to your tufts canvas account

You can use a second email address that you add in Tufts Canvas to subscribe to Canvas notifications. Notifications are automatically delivered to your Tufts email address. However, if you don’t want to use your current email address or prefer to use a different email for notifications, you can add an extra email address.

  1. In the Global Navigation Ā clickĀ AccountĀ , then clickĀ Settings.
  2. In the Email Addresses section, clickĀ Add Email Address.
  3. Type in the email address you want to add in the text field. When you are finished, clickĀ Register Email.
  4. Open your email account you just added.
  5. Click the link that is in the email to finish registering the additional email address. You may have to check your junk mail folder.
  6. If you need to resend the confirmation, click theĀ Re-Send ConfirmationĀ link.
  7. To delete the email address, click theĀ DeleteĀ icon.
  8. Click theĀ OKĀ button.
  9. Once your additional email address has been confirmed, you can go to Account / Notifications and set your Canvas notifications for that email address
