TEMPORARY EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES
The Tanzania Electrical and Mechanical Services Agency (TEMESA) is a Public Institution established under the Government Agency Act, Chapter 245. Its main responsibilities include providing Vehicle and Machinery Maintenance Services, Electrical Services including Street Light Maintenance, Refrigerator and Air Conditioning Maintenance, ICT Systems and Electronic Equipment Maintenance, Ferry Services, and Consultancy Services.
In ensuring the effective implementation of the Agency’s responsibilities, the Manager of the Eastern and Southern Zone is announcing temporary job vacancies as follows:
- MARINE MECHANIC – 10 POSITIONS
(a) Applicant Requirements:
i. Should have completed Form Six education and graduated from a recognized Government Technical Institute with a two-year course in Marine Mechanics, or
ii. Should have completed Form Four education and obtained a three-year course certificate in Marine Mechanics from a recognized Government Technical Institute, or
iii. Should have completed Form Four education and obtained a Trade Test I Certificate from a recognized Government Technical Institute.
iv. Should possess a certificate in marine engineering training (Certificate of Successes Rating Forming Part of an engineering watch course).
v. Should have completed six months of marine life-saving and swimming training.
vi. Must be a Tanzanian citizen.
(b) Responsibilities:
i. Inspect, identify, and perform repairs on ferries/boats.
ii. Perform maintenance on outboard engines and inboard ferry/boat engines.
iii. Conduct tests on ferry/boat engines after maintenance.
iv. Maintain engines, equipment, spare parts, and tools for ferry/boat engines.
v. Maintain and keep technical records of ferries/boats.
vi. Perform assigned tasks by the Supervisor.
- FERRY CAPTAIN II – 10 POSITIONS
(a) Applicant Requirements:
i. Should have completed Form Four education or have an Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education (ACSEE).
ii. Mandatory basic certificate according to STCW95 and a Rating Forming Part of Navigation Watch (RFPAW) certificate.
iii. Should hold a Bachelor’s Degree/Advanced Diploma/Diploma in one of the following fields: Marine Science, Marine Engineering, Mechanical/Civil Engineering, Electronic/Electrical Engineering, or any other related field will be an added advantage.
iv. Must be a Tanzanian citizen.
(b) Responsibilities:
i. Operate ferries (Pontoons) from one point to another in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and procedures.
ii. Depart, travel, stop, and communicate safely according to applicable laws and regulations.
iii. Adhere to scheduled departure and arrival times.
iv. Monitor the performance of all staff, report exemplary and unsatisfactory conduct to the Ferry Manager.
v. Report any deficiencies or violations to the Ferry Manager.
vi. Perform other duties as directed by the supervisor.
- FERRY DECK ASSISTANT II – 10 POSITIONS
(a) Applicant Requirements:
i. Should have completed Form Four education.
ii. Must have completed at least six months of maritime service and Mandatory Training Certificates (Mandatory courses/refresher in mandatory courses) provided by Government-recognized Institutions or the International Maritime Organization (IMO).
iii. Organize people and vehicles on ferries/boats.
iv. Must be a Tanzanian citizen.
(b) Responsibilities:
i. Ensure the safety of the pontoon at all times for operation.
ii. Secure and release pontoon ropes using wires and ropes while the pontoon is stationary.
iii. Ensure that the pontoon deck is free of water and debris.
iv. Monitor the behavior and movements of passengers on the pontoon.
v. Manage passengers and their luggage and arrange vehicles accordingly.
vi. Assist in activities such as painting, buffing, and weighing in collaboration with technicians.
vii. Participate in rescue operations whenever required or in case of any accidents.
viii. Perform any other related duties as instructed by the supervisor.
- AIR CONDITIONING TECHNICIAN GRADE II – 10 POSITIONS
(a) Applicant Requirements:
i. Should have completed Form Four education and graduated from a recognized Government Technical Institute with a two-year course in air conditioning, or
ii. Should have completed Form Four education and obtained a three-year course certificate in air conditioning from a recognized Government Technical Institute.
(b) Responsibilities:
i. Perform air conditioning, refrigerator, and cold room maintenance.
ii. Install new air conditioning, refrigerator, and cold room systems.
iii. Inspect existing systems in government buildings involving air conditioning, refrigeration, and cold rooms.
iv. Perform assigned tasks by the Manager/Supervisor.
GENERAL TERMS:
i. Applicants should not exceed the age of 45.
ii. Applications should include copies of relevant certificates, two passport-size photos of the applicant, and the applicant’s Curriculum Vitae.
iii. Only applicants who meet the required qualifications will be called for an interview.
