About Philippine Army
The Philippine Army is the main, oldest and largest branch of the Philippines Armed Forces which is tasked engaging in ground warfare.
Mission.
Today the functions of the Philippine Army are:
- Organize, train and equip Army forces for the conduct of prompt and sustained combat operations on land;
- Prepare such units as is also necessary for the effective prosecution of national defense plans and programs and militia mission, as well as the enlargement of the period Army part to fulfill any emergency;
- Develop, in accordance with the opposite major services, tactics, techniques and instrumentality of interest to the military on field operations;
- Train, organize and equip all Army reserve units; and

Joining the Philippine Army.
There are three ways in which of turning into a Philippine military officer
- Via the Philippine academy
- Via the (OCC) Officer Candidate Course
- Via the (OPC) Officer Preparatory Course
If you’re a university graduate or a Bachelors Degree Holder, you have the option of becoming a Philippine military officer via OCC.
OCC is one-year-long course. Upon graduation, you’ll be commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant within the regular force.

- Physically and mentally suited coaching

- Between twenty one and twenty nine years previous on the date of admission at OCS.

- NSO-issued Birth certificate
- CV (for Civilian applicants)

Second Lieutenants
Are you a reserve 2nd Lieutenant within the Philippine Army? Then you
may apply for (OPC) Officer preceding Course. It’s a six months
course with you being commissioned as 2nd lieutenant within the
regular force.
The majority reserved 2d lieutenants within the
Philippine Army are ROTC advance graduates and commissioned as
2nd lieutenant within the reserve force. The Qualifications for
(OPC) is nearly constant because the (OCC) except that below (OPC),
you must not be thirty-three.
For Students
If you can’t wait to become a part of the Philippine Army. Then you’ll apply as a non-commissioned personnel. Here are the qualifications:
- Should have attained seventy-two units in the university for all gender
- Secondary school graduates need to possess technical skills extremely
desirable for acceptance within the military service - Should pass the Armed Forces of the Philippine Army Test Battery with a score of forty-five or
higher - Should not be younger than eighteen years old, however no more than twenty-six years old at the time of
appointment - 5′ for both genders
- You have to be certified fit both in physical and mental terms
- Single and has no kid
- No unresolved case in any court

Application Requirements for 2023/2024 Philippine Army Recruitment for Officer Candidate Course (OCC)
- Holder of a baccalaureate degree;
- Natural-born Filipino
- 21 to 29 years of age upon admission (no age waiver);
- Single and never been married; never borne or sired a child;
- Height of not less than 5’0 ft. (152.4cm) both for male and female, but not more than 6’4” (193.04 cm);
- Of good moral character;
- Physically, mentally and psychologically fit for active military service (P1 profile);
- Armed Forces of the Philippines Service Aptitude Test(AFPSAT) raw score of 71 or higher;
- Must have passed other pre-entry written examinations given by the Philippine Army (Army Qualifying Exam (AQE) & Special Written Exam (SWE)); and
- Must pass the Physical Medical Exam and Physical Fitness Test conducted in the Philippine Army thru PAOSC
Requirements for Officer Candidates that will undergo the Officer Preparatory Course (OPC),
- Commissioned in the Reserve Force as second lieutenant
- Must not be over 31 years old on the date of Called to Active Duty (CAD);

NON-COMMISSIONED OFFICER / ENLISTED PERSONNEL
Candidate Soldiers must possess the following qualifications:
- Natural born Filipino citizen
- With 72 units in college or if a high school graduate, must possess technical skills/talents needed by the AFP
- At least 18 to 23 years old before the date of appointment as Candidate Soldier
- At least 60 or 72 inches in height. Similarly, height waiver is no longer issued by the Command
- Single and without child
- Of good moral character
- AFPSAT score of at least 45
- Must have passed the pre-qualifying PFT and PME
- Physically and mentally fit for military training
Cadet Corps Armed Forces of the Philippines
For those who want to become part of the Cadet Corps Armed Forces of the Philippines and later serve as one of the leaders of the AFP, may take the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) entrance examination.
The following are the qualifications to be a PMA Cadet:
- Natural Born Filipino Citizen.
- Physically fit and of good moral character.
- Single and has never been married.
- Must pass the PMA Entrance Examination.
- No Administrative / Criminal Case.
- At least High School Graduate or must graduate not later than June of the year following the date of examination taken for Grade 12 students.
- Height Requirement for both Male and Female is 5 feet (not to exceed 6’4″ for both).
- At least 17 years old but not a day older than 22 years on 01 June of the year following the date of examination taken.
