Coca-Cola Beverages Africa is the largest African Coca-Cola bottler, accounting for 40% of all Coca-Cola volumes on the continent. CCBA is a market leader in the NARTD (non-alcoholic ready to drink market) in Africa. CCBA has an extensive footprint in Africa, employing over 15 000 employees.

Key Duties & Responsibilities
The role will be responsible for:
• To provide strategic direction, support and guidance to all SHEQ functions to drive compliance with all CCBA and TCCC requirements related to quality and food safety. To actively engage the business where serious Non-Conformances relative to SHEQ occurs, to ensure that appropriate, sustainable outcomes are achieved. Develop in-country capability in all aspects of quality and the environment with emphasis on GA countries.
• The role will engage with operational SHEQ teams to ensure all quality and food safety processes and systems are fully implemented and executed, with specific focus on legacy sites, as well as ensuring that capability has been built across all operations.
• In addition to the Quality and Food Safety processes, specific Environmental and Safety processes will also have to be established and entrenched in the legacy plants. These processes will be guided by the Health and Safety and Environmental Specialist. Describe the level of interaction within and outside of the company as well as the nature and purpose of the interaction.
• Provide guidance and assistance to countries for all system certifications (ISO and other)
• Actively engage with countries on all non-compliance issues and risks in order to mitigate and implement effective corrective action.
• Act as secondary liaison with TCCC on all aspects of quality and environment. Ensure that these requirements are shared with and implemented by operations.
• Work with SHEQ managers in countries to ensure that good laboratory, 5S, GMP and stock rotation practices are implemented and adhered to.
• Engage with country SC leaders to ensure that the quality and integrity of our products are of the required standard at all times, thus ensuring our licence to operate.

Key Outputs and Accountabilities
1. Guidance for Management, Implementation and Maintenance of SHEQ Systems: 
• Provide access to resources and tools to implement Quality and Food Safety Systems.
• Plan track and communicate Business System goals in line with Business Plans
• Provide support to Country Supply Chain departments to prepare for GAO audits and to close out corrective action Plans
• Ensure in-trade market surveys and SHEQ support to Customer Services
• Provide guidance and enforce implementation and maintenance of SHEQ systems (with particular reference to QA systems)

2. Provide Guidance and Support to Ensure Product Quality and Food Safety: 
• Enforce laboratory efficiency and good laboratory practices and routines
• Ensure that Quality issues are investigated with proven root cause methodology used
• Monitor trends and investigate continuous deviations
• Set minimum requirements for testing regimes (where CCBA standard is stricter than KO)

3. Track and monitor sustainability measures: 
• Review plant targets for all measures against TCCC and CCBA objectives as well as previous performance • Monitor trends in quality data against plant and group targets
• Monitor compliance and progress against Quality Policies, e.g Quality Leading Indicators and SCMAT assessments
 • Monitor GAO compliance and corrective action close out status

4. Drive Continuous Improvement Initiatives and Ensure Alignment with CAPEX Projects: 
• Provide guidance and support to implement the Quality pillar (with specific reference to Quality at Source principals) in the legacy operations.
• Provide guidance to Quality areas as part of overall SC excellence models, e.g. Manufacturing Way.
 • Identify improvement opportunities.
• Ensure all validations of production equipment are done as per KO requirements
• Assist plants to evaluate lab equipment for compliance against TCCC and CCBA standards.
5. Drive SHEQ systems as a whole
• Assist the Health and Safety Specialist to evaluate performance of the Health, Safety and Environmental Matters in legacy plants
• Assist QC specialist and HSE specialist to evaluate the readiness of plants for GAO and other audits as determined by the Group SHEQ manager.

6. Capability Development:
• Provide in-country capability building with emphasis on GA countries
• Work with CoE’s for Quality and Food Safety to accelerate capability building across CCBA or establish CoE’s in Greater Africa where required.
• Provide input into the selection of SHEQ candidates.
• Where necessary, establish a COP to solve quality problems (COP’s must be established across the group).
• Provide a training plan for new SHEQ managers and liaise with management regarding on-boarding process
• Ensure that KO training material is incorporated into CCBA capability building initiatives
• Provide coaching and mentoring to operational SHEQ staff
• Technical training material to be developed and available for Product and Package quality improvement or for General Knowledge improvement e.g new processes.

Skills, Experience & Education Qualifications and Experience
Qualifications:
 • Minimum – BSc in Food Science or equivalent
• Advantageous – Honours in Food Science Degree or equivalent PLUS a business qualification (postgraduate diploma/ certificate an added advantage)

Experience: 
• Minimum 5 years work experience in a management position within the bottling industry or food industry (SHEQ experience a prerequisite)
• Advantageous – SHEQ experience at senior management level within a bottling environment.
• Extensive traveling is required.
