Role Purpose
The Specialist: Record to Report (R2R) role based within Finance business unit.
Perform month end close process and reporting activities for Vodacom South Africa and its subsidiaries (VSA) in compliance with IFRS and group policies. Prepare statutory packs and annual financial statements in compliance with IFRS and group policies.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Execute reporting activities for VSA entities including the loading of SAP trial balances into HFM as well the clearing of all HFM/FDM validation errors.
- Prepare HFM journals and maintain the HFM Journal Register to ensure that only valid transactions are processed correctly in HFM
- Perform monthly variance analysis on the financial results and the financial position of the company to ensure that the results are accurately and timely reported.
- Manage the month end close process activities including liaison with the business to ensure that all transaction are recorded accurately and timely in SAP
- Prepare journals entries including accruals, prepayments and elimination journal entries to ensure that all transactions are recorded accurately and timely in SAP
- Implement appropriate SOX controls, internal controls and compliance requirements surrounding the month end close and reporting process.
- Identify financial reporting risks and respond appropriately issues using balance sheet reconciliations, journal reviews, general ledger KPI tracking and other reporting governance controls
- Manage all the internal and external audit requirements and also ensure that all audit issues are addressed timely
- Prepare statutory packs and other reporting requirements as part of the interim and year end processes.
- Prepare statutory Annual Financial Statements (AFS)
- Perform reconciliations of SAP trial balance to HFM to AFS/Statutory Packs.
- Drive process improvement and automation projects that will improve the timeliness and accuracy of financial reporting.
- Technical accounting support to the business including documenting accounting opinions and providing guidance on the chart of accounts.
The ideal candidate for this role will have:
- Matric / Grade 12
- B.Com (Accounting) with 3 – 5 relevant working experience e.g. audit articles, accounting & reporting etc.
- CA (SA) will be an advantage
- Deadline driven and the ability to work under pressure
- Self-drive and the ability to work independently
- Systems implementation and project management
- Interpersonal skills and the ability to negotiate with various stakeholders
- Strong IFRS knowledge
- Strong Excel skills
- Analytical and IT skills
- Problem solving, query management and project management skills
- Telecommunications market background preferable
- Stakeholder management and engagement
- Drive for results
- Deadline driven
- Good communication skills
