How to create Animated videos with PowerPoint beginners guide PowerPoint’s Influence
We recently discovered a fantastic new feature in PowerPoint – the ability to create stunning videos in a matter of minutes! We use Adobe Creative Cloud for most of our video content at DiscoverEI, which is great if you have the skills and the license… if you don’t. It wasn’t until a request to teach a group of water professionals how to make videos prompted me to look into low-code, simple and accessible video-making tools. Finally, PowerPoint emerged victorious!
How to make your own PowerPoint videos with animation, screen recording and music is covered in this post.
What’s the point of making a video?
As long as it’s done correctly, videos can help convey your message in a way that’s more interesting and engaging than written reports. When it comes to making videos at DiscoverEI, we’re always on the lookout for any opportunity to do so, and we’ve even written a blog post on how to do so!

Instructive video tutorials should be created to demonstrate the use of various applications.
Slide2.PNG A great way to involve the project team, stakeholders, and the community is to create short project highlights videos!
In Power BI reports, video embedding can help with navigation and provide additional context. Here’s how to find out how to do that!
STEP ONE: Creating Slides

In the video, fast forward to Step 1.
PowerPoint slides are the first step. Structure your video with a title slide, body slides, and a conclusion slide, just like you would with a PowerPoint slide show.
A minimalistic approach to video design is often more effective than an overly complex one. It is often more effective to use a single image or large quote on a simple slide with a bold background. You can begin creating your PowerPoint slides by following these three suggestions:

Add Images: Add a background or anchor image to frame our slide by dragging and dropping.
Title, Subtitle, or Key Message: Include some text in your message.
Transparency and shapes can be used to layer your elements to give the illusion of depth.

Step 2: Animate Your Messages

Skip to Step 2 in the video if you’d like.
Next, we’ll make our slides come to life with animations. This is when things really get interesting!
Addition of animations to slides is well-known. Swivels and Grow & Turns may have been abused by you in the past (I know I was!). However, if used correctly, animations can enhance your videos and give them a sense of flow.
Our elements are ready for animation!

Add animation to your slide’s most important elements by clicking on the Animation ribbon. Floating in and zooming in are two of my favorite effects!
Adjust the animation transitions in the Animation Pane. Choose ‘Start with Previous’ as the first animation to use. When the slide is visible, the animation begins. Set the animation to ‘Start After Previous’ for all other elements.
To improve the flow of our video, experiment with the delay and duration of your animations.
The animations can be viewed from the presenter’s perspective or in a preview window in the animation pane.

Animations are a great opportunity to experiment with transitions, color schemes, and layering.
Add a Video in Step 3

Skip to Step 3 in the video.
This blog is supposed to be about making videos, right? It’s possible to record a screencast right inside of PowerPoint, or to use preexisting videos like logo animations.
In order to insert a video from our computer, we have two options: either record our screen (which is great for creating video tutorials).
Inserting videos from the internet is a new option that you may have learned about. However, in normal slideshows, this is a good idea, but when creating videos, it’s not so great because of all those annoying ad pop ups that appear on YouTube and Vimeo!

To record a video of your computer screen, follow these steps:

In the Insert tab, we select Media, then Screen Recording, and press the record button.
Make a video: Select the region of your screen you want to record, then click record!
Playback Can Be Edited: Change the Start option from ‘On Click’ to ‘Automatically’ in Playback / Video Options. As a result, the video will begin to play as soon as the slide is displayed.

Inserting an existing video is as simple as doing the following:

To add a video, select the Video on my PC option from the Insert menu, Media, and then Insert Video.
Playback allows you to edit video in a variety of ways, including trimming, fading in and out, adjusting volume, and even adding captions!
Let’s alter the start option from ‘On Click’ to ‘Automatically’ in the Playback and Video Options sections of the app. This implies that when the slide is displayed, the video will begin to play.

INSTALL MUSIC IN STEP 4

Step 4 is up next in the video. ▶️
If you don’t have a voice over (or even if you have! ), we’ve found that adding music may dramatically elevate your video.
DiscoverEI’s brother is a very skilled DJ who can create you some custom backing music! There are several royalty-free music sites out there.
This is how you do it:

If you wish to add audio, go to the Insert media menu, choose Media, then choose the Audio from my PC radio button.
As with the video, we can edit the audio by going to the Playback tab and adjusting the volume, fade in and fade out, etc.
Changing the start option from ‘On Click’ to ‘Automatically’ and selecting ‘Play Across Slides’ will automatically apply to all slides when you go to Playback then Audio Options under Playback.

Trimming your audio and adding a fade out of three to five seconds are excellent ideas once you know how long your video will be. This makes your video seem and sound more polished, and it helps viewers know when the video is over.
Review and export your work in STEP 5.

Step 5 can be found in the video below.
It’s time to check and export your movie now that you’ve finished creating your PowerPoint presentations with animations, videos, and sound!
This is how you do it:

Use the Export and Create Video option on the File tab. Preview our timings, and alter the default time on each slides here.
To ensure a seamless transition, you may want to play around with the number of seconds you spend on each slide (by default this is set to 5 seconds)
Video to be exported: To save a video as a.WMV file, choose a video resolution and then click “Create Video.” We’ve noticed some issues with slide transitions when saving as an.MP4 file.
Embedding a video into your Power BI reports is a great way to spread the word about your project.
