What is the Teaching Plan for the Year?

The Department for Basic Education (DBE) in South Africa has given teachers who use the CAPS curriculum Annual Teaching Plans. These documents list the minimum core skills and content for each subject and grade.

Every Grade in the South African Curriculum has an annual teaching plan, from the Foundation Phase to the FET Grades. You can find them on the site for the Department of Basic Education.

What is in an Annual Teaching Plan?

There are 11 official languages in South Africa. Annual teaching plans are broken up by subject and are available in all 11 of those languages. Once they have it, they go over what needs to be in it every year for that subject.

Each Annual Teaching Plan has a weekly plan for each term that includes the most important ideas, skills, and values to teach. Basically, it tells each learner what they should be able to do by the end of the term.
