HKU Portal Login & Registration

HKU Portal Login & Registration Students at the University of Hong Kong can easily access all of the centrally supplied IT services using the HKU Portal’s user-friendly single sign-on interface.

These include those made available over a fast campus network through the Student Information System (SIS), Human Capital Management System (HCMS), email, learning management system, web-based administrative tools, and HKUL.

How to log into HKU portal

To log in;

1. Navigate to hkuportal.hku.hk/.
2. Enter your HKU Portal UID (User Identification).
3. Enter your PIN (Personal Identification Number).
4. Click on the green “LOG IN” button to access your portal.
5. Ensure you logout once you’re done to prevent unauthorized access.

HKU portal change password settings

You frequently forget your PIN or password. To modify your PIN on HKU Portal, log in to hkuportal.hku.hk, enter “PIN” in the search bar, and then select “Modify HKU Portal PIN.”

Click the “Forgot your PIN/Passwords” option on the HKU Portal login page if your alternate email address, mobile phone number, or secret question have been registered with ITS.

Alternate email address

1. Click the link “Forgot your PIN/Passwords” under the login page of HKU Portal or https://extranet.hku.hk/itpwdpol/servlet/recoverPassword.
2. Enter your UID and Staff/Student No. and the 5-character string shown in the picture and click “submit”.
3. Click “Alternate email”.
4. An email containing a verification link (valid for 10 minutes after it is sent) will be sent to your alternate email address.
5. Click the verification link and follow the instructions to enter your new PIN.
6. The new PIN will be effective in 10 minutes.

Mobile Phone (SMS)

1. Click the link “Forgot your PIN/Passwords” under the login page of the portal.
2. Enter UID and Staff/Student No. and the 5-character string shown in the picture and click “submit”.
3. Click “Mobile phone (SMS)”.
4. A 6-digit verification code will be sent to your registered mobile phone number. Enter the code in the online form within 10 minutes.
5. After the code is verified correctly, enter your new PIN.
6. The new PIN will be effective in 10 minutes.

Secret question

1. Click the link “Forgot your PIN/Passwords” under the login page of HKU login page.
2. Enter your UID and Staff/Student No. and the 5-character string shown in the picture and click “submit”.
3. Click “Secret question”.
4. Enter the answer to the secret question you registered with ITS.
5. After the inputted answer is verified correct, enter your new PIN.
6. The new PIN will be effective in 10 minutes.
