Learn to Earn is a Christian ministry that has as its mission to develop people, especially unemployed people, socially, economically, emotionally and spiritually. The vision is ‘to eradicate unemployment and other legacies of injustice in South Africa and Africa. Through providing a programme that recognizes human dignity and the human right to live a meaningful life, they aim to assist individuals to regain their self-respect. They do this by empowering them to provide for themselves and for their families. Training interventions provided by Learn to Earn are circumstantial, practical and market related. What is innovative about Learn to Earn is the methodology and ethos behind its training interventions.
Learn to Earn seeks to appoint a Group Administrator to be based in Cpae Town.
The purpose of this position is to be responsible for providing the leadership and management of the Administration and Operations for Learn to Earn as a group. This involves giving and making important policy and strategic decisions input, as well as the development and implementation of operational policies and procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Human Resource functions include recruiting, drafting and managing employment contracts, assisting with disciplinary hearings, staff development and training. Giving input into performance management processes and 360° Evaluations, co-ordination and submission of the workplace skills plan (WSP). The developing and keeping policies and procedures manual updated, when necessary, co-ordinating and managing health and safety and COID submissions. To help promote an organisational culture that encourages good morale and performance within a healthy and safe environment and that complies with HR and Labour Legislation.
- Risk management reducing risk exposure by ensuring validity of all organisational certifications, trust administration and that compliance documentation (trade certificates, certificate of food acceptability, due diligence admin, BBBEE Affidavits, SED and other accreditations) are in order and up-to-date. Managing and protecting IP ( Intellectual Property) and copyright and trademarks. Managing assets registers and ensuring that the CIPC status is correct, compliant and adheres to correct documentation and records management standards.
- Fleet and building management by ensuring vehicles and buildings are correctly maintained by implementing pro-active and reactive maintenance and annual servicing schedule. That adequate and necessary security is place for our moveable and immoveable assets and that these are implemented and maintained by user departments. Also ensuring all vehicular and building assets comply with the appropriate regulations.
- Contract management the monitoring and managing of service providers and equipment under agreements and rental/service agreement ensuring terms and conditions are maintained and adhered to.
- Insurance administration by assisting with annual review of policies, understanding the terms and conditions of the cover and claims, liaising with broker and managing claims.
- Centralised Procurement and inventory management by ensuring all operational supplies and equipment is sourced at best price, that suppliers are VAT registered, stock levels are maintained and reconciled to Pastel and that preferential supplier development is consider.
- General Administration including but not limited to ensuring the correct processes are complied within terms of administrative tasks, filing, records management and general office functions and renewals related to various licences.
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in business management or related fields.
- Experience in management, operations, and leadership.
- Good understanding of human resources and financial management.
- Previous experience in the NGO sector advantageous.
- Ability to build consensus and relationships among managers, partners, and employees.
- Good intercultural interpersonal skills and communication skills, with isiXhosa being beneficial.
- Further to this, it is imperative that the incumbent ascribes to the organisation’s vision, mission, principles of faith and be an active member of an evangelical church. Learn to Earn (LtE) is a registered Christian skills development organization which seeks to develop people, especially unemployed people, socially, economically, emotionally and spiritually.
- As such this a team ministry and the following will also be required in addition to the above:
- Participate, contribute and engage in weekly staff devotions and prayer meetings.
- To participate in the employer’s Annual Staff Retreat. We go away together to do staff development and spiritual growth seminars.
- To participate in the employer’s Annual Report Back Meetings and other organisational functions (awareness and fundraisers) which may be after hours during the week or weekends.
- To be co-responsible for the continued development of the employer.
- To promote the employer and obtain financial support thereof.
- Outside of the employee’s above responsibilities the employee will be expected to do things that fall outside of the ambit of their job description, such as sweeping, cleaning, covering for and helping other staff. This is a team ministry
