The General Certificate of Education Advanced Level, which is more commonly known as the GCE A Level, is a school leaving qualification that is offered by secondary schools, sixth form colleges, and further education colleges in the United Kingdom, as well as in some countries within the Commonwealth, and at a large number of international schools all over the world. In Scotland, students have the option of pursuing this qualification rather than the Highers, which are the standard option.

The qualification was first introduced in 1951 to replace the Higher Schools Certificate, and final examinations are typically taken in England and Wales at the end of Year 13 after two years of classroom study, which has traditionally been referred to as the sixth form. The qualification was initially introduced in 1951.

GCE A Level Grading Scale and UCAS Tarrif Point Allocation

Exams taken at the A level are scored on a scale ranging from A* to E.
