Late Application Timeframe

  Cape town peninsula university of Technology late application process at CPUT for programmes with available spaces late applications will be available only for identified programmes with available spaces for the following application categories:

  • Applicants who exhausted only 1 or 2 options out of the maximum of 3 choices for applications submitted during the normal application timelines
  • Applicants who did not apply during the normal application timelines (maximum of 3 choices)
  • No 4th choices following the Dean’s Discretionary process will be considered during this late application timeline
  • Students transferring from other universities
  • CPUT students who have taken a gap in their studies
  • Phasing out programmes
  • Advanced Diploma Studies (Students who have completed a National Diploma/Diploma/Bachelors Degree or equivalent studies)
  • Postgraduate studies – M Tech/Master Course-based programmes
  • Postgraduate studies – Post Graduate Diploma programmes

Applications are welcomed for the following applicants:

  • National applicants (with an SA ID), including Refugee/Asylum Seeker and/or Permanent Residency applicants with a National Senior Certificate (NSC) / SC (Senior Certificate) / NCV (National Vocal Certificate) / National Qualification.
  • National applicants (with an SA ID) with international qualifications who already have SAQA certificates.

RPL provides an opportunity for you to identify your learning, have it assessed and formally acknowledged. The process involves the identification, mediation, assessment and acknowledgement of knowledge and skills obtained through informal and non-formal learning.

Decide what you would like to study and which qualification you are interested in studying. Ideally, that should be in line with the work, interest or hobbies you have.

For RPL all you learning is taken into account this can include, but is not limited, to formal and informal work, voluntary work, sport, hobbies, interests and other activities that lead to learning of a substantial nature.

RPL is done against qualifications offered by CPUT.

Only a limited number of academic departments accept RPL applications into one or more of the qualifications they offer. A list is obtainable from the website link RPL application for the 2021 application intake is closed.

Why is my status still reflecting “Provisionally accepted” even though the 2020 NSC results have been published? I am Provisionally accepted, what is the next step? First-year students with pre-2020 NSC results:

First-year students who have been fully accepted and are not awaiting final acceptance based on the recent 2020 NSC results may proceed with the registrations as early as 1 March 2021

First-year prospective students who have obtained their NSC in 2020:
Final evaluation (screening) of the 2020 NSC results will be conducted by Faculties from Monday, 1 March 2021 until Friday, 5 March 2021. Any NSC results obtained will be verified against the official results as published by the Department of Basic Education and Training.

There is no need for you to submit your results to CPUT but only on request.

Acceptance will be confirmed via an automated sms to your cell phone number provided during your application.

Also frequently track your acceptance status via the link: http://www.cput.ac.za/study/track. This site shows the status immediately any changes are made, so gives the latest information.

Decision-making is an ongoing process, and you may check your status online regularly, as all decisions will reflect immediately if a decision is made

Secure your place by registering immediately after final acceptance as spaces in the programmes fill up quickly. Should you not do so, the place will be offered to another student.

I have been accepted, what is the next step?Secure your place by registering immediately after final acceptance as spaces in the programmes fill up quickly. Should you not do so, the place will be offered to another student.

I have been Waitlisted. When will I know if I am accepted or not?Waitlisted means:

1) You have applied for a programme where applications have been fully subscribed (insufficient space). Should spaces become available, you will be re-considered OR

Study Visa

I have applied to the institution but requires to obtain a study visa. What do I do?You will only be able to submit your request if you have been Provisionally or Fully Accepted for a qualification that you have applied for.

1) Visit the CPUT website: Select the option TRACK YOUR APPLICATION STATUS https://www.cput.ac.za/study/track

2)Enter your Student Number or ID/Passport and one of your First Names

3)Select the link Request for Study Permit Letter

4)A page will open requesting you to complete your Student Number/Passport, Full Name, E-mail address and for which qualification you are applying for.

5)Select the SEND YOUR REQUEST button and your request will now be routed to the respective staff members.

International Clearance and Documentation

Who must get International Registration clearance?Refer to the registration booklet 2021 – INTERNATIONAL MATTERS AND CLEARANCE

International registration clearance is compulsory for the following students:

1) Refugee permit holders
2) Asylum Seeker permit holders
3) Non-SA citizen passport holders with a study visa

This clearance is not required for South African citizens and/or Permanent Residency students.

How do I get international clearance? Where do I download the International checklist document from the website? I need to obtain international clearance. What is the first step to follow? What documentation is required as international student before I can proceed with registration? Will I be able to register without international clearance?NB: You will not be able to register unless you have submitted your required documentation and the system has been cleared allowing you to proceed with other clearances and/or registrations.

Medical Aid

I have South African medical aid cover but will only commence as from February or March. Unfortunately the international clearance block will not be uplifted if your medical aid is not active in the months prior to the commencement of your medical aid cover.
