BABS Online Booking for Home Affairs: How to Book an Appointment A brand-new online appointment scheduling platform called BABS Online Booking has been introduced by the Department of Home Affairs (DHA). With the use of this technology, citizens can schedule an appointment to submit applications for passports and smart ID cards at certain Home Affairs offices.

How to Book an Appointment with BABS
To book an appointment with BABS Online Booking, you will need to follow these steps:

Go to the DHA BABS Online website: https://www.dha.gov.za/.
Click on the “BABS” tab.
Enter your South African ID number and other personal details.
Select your province, city, and branch.
Click on “Select timeslots.”
Choose a timeslot that is convenient for you.
Click on “Book appointment.”

The Department of Home Affairs is waging a war against long queues. As such we are introducing the Branch Appointment Booking System or BABS.
Citizens are encouraged to make use of the online booking system because in the near future, selected Home Affairs offices will process smart ID and passport applications only for clients who have booked an appointment through the Branch Appointment System.
Pre-booked clients will be serviced at dedicated counters. To book an appointment, visit www.dha.gov.za and click on BABS. It’s quick and easy.
The appointment booking system is one of the many strategies that we have introduced to fight the long queues.

Tips for Booking an Appointment with BABS
Here are some tips for booking an appointment with BABS:
- Try to book your appointment as early as possible. This will give you the best chance of getting a timeslot that is convenient for you before schools closes.
- Be sure to enter your South African ID number correctly. If you make a mistake, you will not be able to book an appointment.
- Check the availability of timeslots before you book your appointment. Not all branches have timeslots available all the time.
- Be sure to bring your ID number and other required documents to your appointment.
