Period of validity of certificates of conditional exemption:

The period of validity of certificates of conditional exemption is five years, but the period will be two years beyond the full-time duration for degree programmes that exceed the full-time duration of the final first-degree programme will determine that period of validity.  Renewal fees will be equivalent to the exemption fee of the specific year.

PLEASE NOTE:

This is a non-refundable fee. i.e you will not be refunded if you don’t qualify for an exemption.

Method of Payment

We do not accept cash as a form of payment.  Payment can be done by Credit Card, Debit Card, EFT, or Postal Order.

Postal Orders must be in favour of the Matriculation Board.

Please note:

The surname and initials of the exemption certificate applicant must be clearly indicated on the electronic payment instruction to expedite the linking of the fee to the applicant.

Where payments are made for more than one applicant, the payment instruction accompanied by the list of applicants, as well as a breakdown of the fees paid on their behalf, should be emailed to the Matriculation Board immediately in order to avoid a miss allocation of fees. Types of certificates issued to holders of foreign qualifications

The regulations provide as follows for foreign qualifications:

To apply for an exemption of study units for undergraduate qualifications, follow these simple steps:

  • Register online for the new qualification for the 2021 academic year: www.unisa.ac.za/register
  • Login to myUnisa, click on “myAdmin”, “Student Admin” and “Apply for Exemption”.

Applications for credits and exemptions close on 11 March 2021. Unisa will commence processing applications for exemptions after the official closing date for registration.
