It’s finally here. The first match of the 2022 World Cup, and the first ever match at the tournament to be staged in the Middle East, nearly 12 years after the Gulf State was awarded the tournament under controversial circumstances.
Since then, Qatar has made significant investments in football, improving infrastructure and developing a national team capable of representing the country on the world stage. This is without a doubt the most important match in a country’s history, and it could go either way.
Meanwhile, Ecuador has three Brighton players and is led by former West Ham player Enner Valencia (remember him?). They’re the least talked about side in their group, but that could work in their favor.
