How to Stream Videos From VLC to Chromecast
The greatest free way to watch media files and DVDs on your PC or Android phone is and will probably always be VLC media player. If you use it as your default player, you are well aware that it does not currently support Chromecast on PC or Android.

Don’t worry, you can use VLC media player to watch media and have it cast to your TV using Chromecast—it just takes a little tweaking first.

You will first need to check the software version that you are running on your device before you may stream content from the VLC player on your personal computer to the Chromecast device. VLC media player for Android does not now support Chromecast, although it will in the future. There are two alternatives available to you: a) find an alternative Android video player that can broadcast to Chromecast (there are many), or b) employ the cumbersome, battery-draining VLC Player method.
Here’s how to proceed if you prefer the latter choice.
1.Install the Chromecast app for Google Home on your Android device, then connect your Chromecast to it.
2.Start the desired file in VLC media player and then cast it.
3.Open the Chromecast app, then choose Cast screen/audio from the menu by tapping the Menu button.
4.To cast the display from your device to your Chromecast, adhere to the on-screen directions.
5.Return to VLC Player and change the video’s aspect ratio to full screen, and you’re done!
How to Troubleshooting Chromecast streaming with VLC
Try these fixes if you’re having problems like receiving audio only.
1.If it isn’t already open, launch VLC and select Tools > Preferences.
2.At the top of the new window, choose the Video tab.
3.Select OpenGL video output from the drop-down menu under “Output.” You should choose OpenGL video output for Windows if you’re running Windows.
4.Then select the Input/Codecs tab.
5.Next, select Disable from the Hardware-accelerated decoding selection menu and click Save.
6.Then launch VLC once more, log back in, and begin streaming.
If the solutions listed above didn’t solve the issue, you might need to verify your firewall settings or make sure that Audio passthrough is disabled. You can do this by going to the Audio tab of the menu shown above.
How to Resetting VLC Preferences
You could want to reset your VLC media player options if the instructions above didn’t solve the issue for you. Prior to setting your preferences to default, keep in mind to take note of your settings.
