Job Vacancies at Dar es Salaam University College of Education (DUCE) January 2023 The Dar es Salaam University College of Education (DUCE) is a Constituent College of the University of Dar es Salaam established in 2005.The main functions of the College, as stipulated in the Dar es Salaam University College of Education Charter and the Rules of 2010, are to provide integrated teaching, research and public service.

To enhance effective teaching and learning, research and provision of public services, the College invites applications from suitable qualified Tanzanians to fill the following readvertised vacancies positions:

1.0 ASSISTANT LECTURER – PROGRAMMING, 1 POST DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
(i) To carry out lectures, conduct tutorials, seminars and practicals for undergraduate Programmes;
(ii) Prepare and present case studies;
(iii) Conduct and publish/disseminate research results;
(iv) Participate/contribute in curriculum development;
(v) Recognize students having learning difficulties, intervene and provide assistance and support;
(vi) Guide students in various academic issues;
(vii) Participate in consultancy and community services under supervision;
(viii) To attend workshops, conferences and symposia; and
(ix) To perform any other related duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Holder of Master of Science in Machine Learning or Master of Science in Software Engineering or Master of Science in Information System Development or Master of Science in Computer Science and either a Bachelor Degree of Science in computer Science or Bachelor of Science in Information Systems or Bachelor of Science in
Software Engineering or Bachelor of Science in Information Technology or Bachelor of Science in Informatics or Bachelor of Science with Education majoring Computer Science and Mathematics from a recognized Academic Institution. The Candidate should possess a GPA of at least 4.0 points at Masters Level and a minimum GPA of 3.8 points (out of 5 points) at Undergraduate Level.

2.0 ASSISTANT LECTURER – MATHEMATICAL STATISTICS, 1 POST DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
(i) To carry out lectures, conduct tutorials, seminars and practicals for undergraduate Programmes;
(ii) Prepare and present case studies;
(iii) Conduct and publish/disseminate research results;
(iv) Participate/contribute in curriculum development;
(v) Recognize students having learning difficulties, intervene and provide assistance and support;
(vi) Guide students in various academic issues;
(vii) Participate in consultancy and community services under supervision;
(viii) To attend workshops, conferences and symposia; and

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Holder of a Master of Science in Mathematical Statistics or Master of Statistics and either a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics or Bachelor of Science with Education majoring in Mathematics or Bachelor of Science majoring in Mathematics or Bachelor of Science in Mathematical Statistics or Bachelor of Eduction in Science majoring in Mathematics from a recognized Academic Institution. The applicant should possess a GPA of at least 4.0 points at Masters Level and a minimum GPA of 3.8 points (out of 5 points) at Undergraduate Level.

3.0 ASSISTANT LECTURER – ELECTRONICS, 1 POST DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
(i) To carry out lectures, conduct tutorials, seminars and practicals for undergraduate Programmes;

(iii) Conduct and publish/disseminate research results;
(iv) Participate/contribute in curriculum development;

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Holder of Master of Science in Physics, Master of Science in Electronics, Master of Science in Electronics and Communication, Master of Telecommunication Engineering or Master of Science in Electronics Engineering and Information Technology and a Bachelor of Science with Education majoring in Physics or Bachelor of Education majoring in Physics or Bachelor of Science in Electronics, and Bachelor of Science in Physics. The applicant should possess a GPA of at least 4.0 points at Masters Level and a minimum GPA of 3.8 points (out of 5 points) at Undergraduate Level and a minimum of B+ in electronics courses.

4.0 ASSISTANT LECTURER – MOLECULAR BIOLOGY AND BIOTECHNOLOGY/ GENETICS, 1 POST DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
(i) To carry out lectures, conduct tutorials, seminars and practical for undergraduate Programmes;
(ii) Prepare and present case studies;
(iii) Conduct and publish/disseminate research results;
(iv) Participate/contribute in curriculum development;

Holder of Master of Science in Molecular Biology or Master of Science in Molecular Genetics or Master of Science in Developmental Biology or Master of Science in Molecular Biology and Biotechnology or Master of Science in Applied Zoology, Master of Science in Genetics and either a Bachelor Degree of Science in Molecular Biology and Biotechnology or Bachelor of Science in Molecular Biology and Genetics or Bachelor of Science in Genetics or Bachelor of Science in Immunization and Microbiology or or Bachelor of Science in Microbiology and Molecular Biology from a recognized Academic Institution. The Candidate should poses a GPA of at least 4.0 points at Masters Level and a minimum GPA of 3.8 points (out of 5 points) at Undergraduate Level. SALARY SCALE: PUTS 2.1

5.0 ASSISTANT LECTURER – PLANT PROTECTION/PATHOLOGY, 1 POST DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
(i) To carry out lectures, conduct tutorials, seminars and practical for undergraduate Programmes;
(ii) Prepare and present case studies;
(iii) Conduct and publish/disseminate research results;
(iv) Participate/contribute in curriculum development;
(v) Recognize students having learning difficulties, intervene and provide assistance and support;

Holder of a Master of Science in Plant Pathology or Master of Science in Botany or Master of Science in Plant Sciences and Diseases Control or Master of Science in Plant Sciences or Master of Science in Crop Sciences, or Master of Science in Crop Protection and Plant Pathology and either a Bachelor of Science Degree in Plant Pathology or Bachelor of Science in Botany or Bachelor of Science in Plant Sciences from a recognized Academic Institution. The Candidate should poses a GPA of at least 4.0 points at Masters Level and a minimum GPA of 3.8 points (out of 5 points) at Undergraduate Level.

6.0 ASSISTANT LECTURER – MICROBIOLOGY/VIROLOGY, 1 POST DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
(i) To carry out lectures, conduct tutorials, seminars and practicals for undergraduate Programmes;

(iii) Conduct and publish/disseminate research results;
(iv) Participate/contribute in curriculum development;

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Holder of a Master of Science in Microbiology or Master of Science in Virology or Master of Science in Immunology and either a Bachelor of Science Degree in microbiology or Bachelor of Science in Virology from a recognized Academic Institution. The Candidate should poses a GPA of at least 4.0 points at Masters Level and a minimum GPA of 3.8 points (out of 5 points) at Undergraduate Level.

7.0 ASSISTANT LECTURER – COMPUTATIONAL CHEMISTRY, 1 POST DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
(i) To carry out lectures, conduct tutorials, seminars and practicals for undergraduate Programmes;
(ii) Prepare and present case studies;
(iii) Conduct and publish/disseminate research results;
(iv) Participate/contribute in curriculum development;
(v) Recognize students having learning difficulties, intervene and provide assistance and support;
(vi) Guide students in various academic issues;
(vii) Participate in consultancy and community services under supervision;
(viii) To attend workshops, conferences and symposia; and

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Holder of a Master of Science in Chemistry or Master of Science in Material Science and Engineering or Master of Science in Materials Chemistry and either a Bachelor of Science with Education or Bachelor of Science in Chemistry or Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and Physics or Bachelor of Education in Science majoring in Chemistry from a recognized Academic Institution. The Candidate should poses a GPA of at least 4.0 points at Masters Level and a minimum GPA of 3.8 points (out of 5 points) at Undergraduate Level.

8.0 TUTORIAL ASSISTANT – DATA SCIENCE, 1 POST DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This is a training post; hence, the staff is required to:
(i) Undergo Masters Degree training programme;
(ii) Undergo an induction course in pedagogical skills for those who had none before;
(iii) To undergo mentorship under senior members, including attending lectures and seminars, tutorials and practical training.
(iv) Conduct tutorials, seminars and practicals;
(v) Assist in research, consultancy and outreach activities; and
(vi) Perform any other duties that may be assigned by the Head of Department.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Holder of Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or Bachelor of Science in Software Engineering or Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering or Bachelor of Science with Computer Science or Bachelor of Science in Information Technology or Bachelor of Science in Informatics or Bachelor of Science with Education (Majoring Mathematics and Computer Science or Information Science) from a recognized Academic Institution. The candidate should possess a minimum GPA of 3.8 points out of 5 and a minimum of B+ in Computer Science subjects.

9.0 TUTORIAL ASSISTANT – PURE MATHEMATICS, 1 POST DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This is a training post; hence, the staff is required to:
(i) Undergo Masters Degree training programme;
(ii) Undergo an induction course in pedagogical skills for those who had none before;
(iii) To undergo mentorship under senior members, including attending lectures and seminars, tutorials and practical training.
(iv) Conduct tutorials, seminars and practicals;
(v) Assist in research, consultancy and outreach activities; and
(vi) Perform any other duties that may be assigned by the Head of Department.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Holder of Bachelor of Science in Mathematics; Bachelor of Science with Education with Mathematics as one of the subjects; or Bachelor of Education (Sciences) majoring in Mathematics from a recognized Academic Institution. The candidate should possess a minimum GPA of 3.8 points out of 5 and a minimum of B+ in Pure Mathematics courses. SALARY SCALE: PUTS 1.1

10.0 TUTORIAL ASSISTANT – PHYSICAL CHEMISTRY, 1 POST DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This is a training post; hence, the staff is required to:
(i) Undergo Masters Degree training programme;
(ii) Undergo an induction course in pedagogical skills for those who had none before;
(iii) To undergo mentorship under senior members, including attending lectures and seminars, tutorials and practical training.
(iv) Conduct tutorials, seminars and practicals;
(v) Assist in research, consultancy and outreach activities; and

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Holder of Bachelor of Science with Education or Bachelor of Science in Chemistry or Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and Physics or Bachelor of Education in Sciences majoring Chemistry from a recognized Academic Institution. The candidate should poses a minimum GPA of 3.8 points out of 5 and a minimum of B+ inPhysical Chemistry subjects.

11.0 ASSISTANT LECTURER – DISASTER RISK MANAGEMENT, 1 POST DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
(i) To carry out lectures, conduct tutorials, seminars and practicals for undergraduate programmes;
(ii) To prepare and present case studies;
(iii) To conduct and publish/disseminate research results;
(iv) To participate/contribute in curriculum development;
(v) To recognize students having learning difficulties, intervene and provide assistance and support;

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Master in Disaster Risk Management or Geography and Environmental Studies or Climate Change or Master of Urban Planning and Management or Master in Geographic Information System and either a Bachelor Degree in Disaster Risk Management or Geography and Environmental Studies or Climate Change or Bachelor of Science in Urban Planning and Regional Development or Bachelor of Science in Geoinformatics or Bachelor of Science in Geographical Information System and Remote Sensing from a recognized academic institution. The candidate should posses a GPA of at least 4.0 points at the Master’s Level and a minimum GPA of 3.8 points (out of 5 points) at the
Bachelor’s Level and a minimum of B+ in disaster risk management-related courses

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Master of Educational Management and Administration or Master of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies or Master of Education in Arts or Master of Arts with Education or Master of Arts in Education Management and Planning or Master of Education in Curriculum Studies or Master of Education in Economics and either a
Bachelor of Arts with Education (Economics as a subject of specialisation) or Bachelor of Education in Arts (Economics as a subject of specialisation) from a recognized academic institution. The candidate should possess a GPA of at least 4.0 points at Master’s Level and a minimum GPA of 3.8 points (out of 5 points) at Bachelor’s Level and a minimum of B+ in Economics Teaching Methods. 13.0 ASSISTANT LECTURER- SIGN LANGUAGE COMMUNICATION SKILLS, 1 POST DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Master of Education in Special Needs Education or Master of Special Needs Education or Master of Sign Language and Interpretation or Master in Sign Language Education or and Bachelor of Education in Special Needs Education or Bachelor of Special Needs Education and either Bachelor of Arts with Education from a recognized academic institution or any other relevant Bachelor’s Degree. The candidate should possess a GPA of at least 4.0 points at Master’s Level and a minimum GPA of 3.8 points (out of 5 points) at Bachelor’s Level and a minimum of B+ in Sign Language Communication subjects. 14.0 TUTORIAL ASSISTANT – FRENCH EDUCATION, 1 POST DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This is a training post; hence, the staff is required to:
(i) Undergo Masters Degree training programme;
(ii) Undergo an induction course in pedagogical skills for those who had none before;
(iii) Undergo mentorship under senior members, including attending lectures, seminars, tutorials, and practical training.
(iv) Conduct tutorials, seminars and practicals;
(v) Assist in research, consultancy and outreach activities; and

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor of Arts with Education (French as a subject of specialisation) or Bachelor of Education in Arts (French as a subject of specialisation) or Bachelor of Arts in French Education from a recognized academic institution. The candidate should possess a minimum GPA of 3.8 points out of 5; and a minimum of B+ in French subjects.
