It compiles student data from numerous campus sources into a customized, mobile-friendly dashboard and digital assistant.

From within Cal Student Central, teachers, staff, and students can access bCourses, campus email, the UCB academic calendar, Course Capture, and more.

Obtain calcentral.berkeley.edu’s address.
Simply click Sign In.
Enter your CalNet ID on the CalNet Authentication Service page.
Put your passphrase in here (It is Case sensitive).
Click “SIGN IN” to finish logging into your Cal dashboard.

Unable to log in?

Make sure you’re using the correct login credentials if you encounter the error “invalid credentials” when attempting to log in:

  • Your CalNet ID is your user name and not your email address
  • Passphrases are case sensitive – make sure Caps Lock is off!
  • To reset your passphrase, visit Forgot My CalNet ID / Passphrase.

How to reset your password

You can ask for a reset if you’ve forgotten your CalNet ID or password. Enter your student number, employee number, affiliate number, or recovery email address (not from Berkeley) in the box, then click “Request Reset.” You will get an email with instructions if the system has your recovery email stored on its system.

How to view grades in calCentral

Following the semester: Final grades will be displayed in CalCentral on the Semesters card. When the teacher posts the students’ grades, they are visible. However, please be patient as sometimes grades may not show up for a day after being posted.

There is currently no automated communication system in place, so students must check CalCentral to see if their grades have been uploaded.

CalCentral brings together student data into a personalized, mobile-friendly dashboard and digital assistant, drawing from dozens of campus sources. Students, instructors, and staff can check their campus email, calendar, bCourses, Course Capture, and more from directly within CalCentral.
Records in CalCentral
  1. Go to “Profile” in CalCentral to view and update contact information and preferred name.
  2. View GPA, college, units, and standing.
  3. Under the “Semester” section, view past, current, and upcoming classes and grades; order transcripts and books; and calculate GPA.
Enrollment occurs in CalCentral. You choose classes, add them to a shopping cart, and then enroll. The shopping cart allows you to select classes before your enrollment appointment time so that you are ready to enroll when it is time.
If you are enrolled in classes and you do not plan on attending that term, you must submit a Withdrawal Request Form in CalCentral > My Dashboard > Add a Withdrawal Request. If you submit your form before the first day of instruction for the term, your request will be processed as a Cancellation.

You are required to earn: 120 total semester units. This includes transfer credit admitted to the Berkeley record and advanced high school units admitted to your college record.
