Duties and Responsibilities
The Chairperson will be responsible for providing strategic leadership and governance oversight of the Company. Key responsibilities include:
- Providing strategic leadership and governance oversight.
- Leading Board effectiveness and management oversight.
- Overseeing the Company’s financial, operational and stakeholder performance.
Academic Qualifications
Applicants for the Chairperson position must have:
- A Master’s Degree in Science (MSc), Business Administration (MBA), or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
- A certificate in Corporate Governance/Board Leadership, such as from the Institute of Directors Tanzania (IoDT), or an equivalent recognized institution, and/or Project Management certification such as PMI will be an added advantage.
Professional Experience
Applicants should have:
- Membership or registration with a relevant professional body such as ERB, AQRB, NBAA or an equivalent body is desirable.
- At least ten (10) years of progressive professional experience in the construction, infrastructure or engineering sector.
- At least five (5) years of experience in senior executive management or board-level leadership.
- Demonstrated success in providing strategic leadership and oversight of large-scale construction or infrastructure projects, including management of multi-million project portfolios.
Tenure
The Chairperson shall serve for a term of four (4) years and may be eligible for reappointment for one additional term, subject to applicable laws and governing instruments.
Remuneration
The Chairperson will be entitled to remuneration and other applicable benefits as provided under the MCB Incentive Scheme.
2. Members of the Board of Directors – 6 Posts
MCB Company Limited is also seeking six (6) Members of the Board of Directors with diverse professional expertise. The Board is expected to include professionals from fields such as Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Architecture, Business Administration, Finance, Economics and Law.
Duties and Responsibilities
Board Members will be responsible for:
- Providing strategic leadership and governance oversight by setting the Company’s direction, approving strategies, plans and budgets, and ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies and ethical standards.
- Ensuring effective Board performance and management accountability, including appointing, supervising and evaluating Management, setting performance targets and ensuring implementation of Board decisions.
- Overseeing financial, operational and stakeholder performance by ensuring sound financial management, effective internal controls and risk management, efficient project and operational delivery, and protection of stakeholder interests.
Academic Qualifications
Applicants must have:
- At least a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Architecture, Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Law or another relevant discipline from a recognized institution.
- A Master’s Degree or PhD, including MBA, MSc, PhD or an equivalent qualification, will be an added advantage.
Professional Experience
Applicants should have:
- At least ten (10) years of relevant professional experience in construction, engineering, infrastructure development, business management, finance, economics or legal practice.
- At least five (5) years of experience in managerial or leadership positions.
- Previous experience serving on a Board of Directors or governance committee will be an added advantage.
