Which Positions Have Been Advertised by the Judicial Service Commission?

The 205 positions are distributed across six job categories as follows:

1. Resident Magistrate II – 3 Posts

Salary Scale: TJS II

Applicants should have:

  • Certificate of Secondary  Education Examination or Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education.
  • Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) degree from a recognised university or higher learning institution.
  • Postgraduate Diploma in  Legal Practice from the Law School of Tanzania.
  • Computer training will be an added advantage.

Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidates will be responsible for judicial functions, including:

Searching For Remote Career Opportunities
  • Hearing and determining criminal and civil matters within their jurisdiction.
  • Handling matrimonial and probate matters.
  • Preparing judgments and lawful  court orders.
  • Conducting mediation where applicable.
  • Hearing appeals from Ward Tribunals.
  • Conducting legal research.
  • Performing other judicial duties assigned by the relevant authority.

2. Accounts Officer II – 3 Posts

Salary Scale: TGS D

Applicants should possess one of the following:

Accessing Online Public Court Records
  • Intermediate Certificate Module D issued by NBAA or an equivalent qualification recognised by NBAA.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or Arts with Accounting as a major.
  • Advanced Diploma in Accounting from a recognised institution.

Duties and Responsibilities

Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting in preparation of financial statements.
  • Preparing revenue reports.
  • Preparing bank reconciliation statements.
  • Assisting with payroll-related reports.
  • Processing payment and receipt documents.
  • Maintaining financial records and registers.
  • Performing other accounting duties assigned by the supervisor.

3. Accounts Assistant II – 9 Posts

Salary Scale: TGS B

Applicants should have:

Applying For Government Grants
  • Diploma in Accounting from a recognised institution; or
  • ATEC II Certificate issued by NBAA or an equivalent qualification recognised by NBAA.

Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidates will assist with:

  • Maintaining financial records.
  • Recording revenue and expenditure.
  • Processing payment documents.
  • Maintaining receipts and other accounting records.
  • Preparing financial information and reports.
  • Performing other accounting duties as assigned.

4. Records Assistant II – 97 Posts

Salary Scale: TGS C

This is the largest category, with 97 positions available.

Applicants should have:

  • Form Four or Form Six education.
  • Diploma or NTA Level 6 qualification in Records Management or Law.
  • Computer skills.

Duties and Responsibilities

Records Assistants will be responsible for:

  • Registering incoming and outgoing correspondence.
  • Distributing files to relevant offices.
  • Receiving returned files.
  • Tracking the movement of files.
  • Maintaining court case files.
  • Handling records relating to criminal and civil cases.
  • Ensuring files are properly organised and stored.
  • Assisting with retrieval and management of court records.

5. Secretary/Office Writer II – 9 Posts

Salary Scale: TGS C

Applicants should have:

Consulting Qualified Estate Planning Lawyers
  • Diploma in Secretarial Studies; or
  • NTA Level 6 qualification in Secretarial Studies.

Applicants should also have passed English and Kiswahili typing at 100 words per minute and possess computer skills.

Knowledge of the following is important:

  • Microsoft Word
  • Microsoft Excel
  • Microsoft PowerPoint

  • Email

Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

Searching For Remote Career Opportunities
  • Type official correspondence and documents.
  • Receive and direct visitors.
  • Maintain appointments and schedules.
  • Locate and retrieve files.
  • Distribute correspondence and documents.
  • Prepare materials required for meetings.
  • Maintain office records.
  • Provide general secretarial support.

6. Office Assistant – 84 Posts

Salary Scale: TGOS A

Applicants should:

Accessing Online Public Court Records
  • Be Form Four graduates.
  • Have completed a recognised short course in areas such as Office Attendant, Office Management, Messengerial Services or Office Clerk duties.

Duties and Responsibilities

Office Assistants will perform general office support duties, including:

  • Cleaning offices and surrounding areas.
  • Handling and delivering files.
  • Distributing correspondence.
  • Preparing and serving office tea.
  • Collecting and delivering mail.
  • Maintaining office equipment.
  • Opening and closing office premises as required.
  • Performing other general office support duties assigned by supervisors.

General Eligibility Requirements

Applicants should meet the general requirements outlined by the Judicial Service Commission.

Candidates must:

  • Be Tanzanian citizens.
  • Be between 18 and 45 years of age.
  • Not have a criminal conviction or history of imprisonment.
  • Provide certified copies of relevant academic and professional certificates.
  • Provide a birth certificate.
  • Provide a recent passport-size colour photograph.
  • Meet the specific qualifications for the position applied for.

Candidates already employed permanently in the Public Service are not eligible to apply for these new employment opportunities.
