HOW TO PERFORM WELL IN YOUR JOB INTERVIEW:
- Display confident and your likeable personality: In 5 years time I will have your job, I see myself sitting in your chair.
- Don’t start interview with what in for me questions: How quickly will I be promoted, how much does this job pay. When do I get vacation.
- Avoid negativity at all cost which gives the impression of lack of emotional intelligence, have a bad attitude and difficult to deal with. So keep your tone positive: I don’t like my job, I don’t like my boss, My coworkers are toxic.
- Research the company, Read the job description and their latest news. Come prepared for the interview: What does your company do, could you give me an overview of the company and product, what’s the title of the role, what job am I interesting for?
- Think before you speak. It’s a moment to elaborate yourself and why you best fit for the job. Don’t say, It’s on my resume. Shows you’re arrogant and might the interview to an end.
- Don’t say I don’t know. Buy yourself some time, Focus on what you do know which is relevant to the question.
- Show long time commitment: I don’t see myself working here for more than 2 years. I’d like to start my own business as soon as possible. It shows the job is just a stepping stone for your career.
- I’m not sure if I’m good fit for this job, I don’t have all the experience you need. Let the interviewer do their job of figuring out if you’re fit for the role. Don’t downplay your strength. Focus on selling values. Talk about what you have to offer. Remember to smile, be enthusiastic and passionate.
- I don’t have any questions. Come up with atleast three questions to ask the interviewer. Don’t ask questions like when do I start? But rather What are the biggest challenges of this job? What is the best part of working for this company? What plans does the organization have to expand in the next 5 years? What new product and services the company may be considering?
- Don’t say I really need this job, I need this job or I won’t be able to pay my rent, if I don’t get this job… Don’t look desperate. The right employer will recognize your skills and talent and hire you. Walk out in that interview room with your dignity.
